I quoted your post where you said something about motivating young workers with ss payments. I don't know any young person who expects to collect ss when they retire, and I found it funny that it could motivate someone.

I wasn't suggesting you hold any particular belief. And I wasn't loling at you, just at the idea.

OTOH Stox has a deal on HEM. How hard is it to set up, (considering my PT won't run and I know literally nothing about Windows)?

I found HEM to be pretty easy to set up, thats what I'm currently using.

I can't think of any good reason why it should not be around . . . SS system is in pretty good shape, minor adjustments should fund it for the foreseeable future. If we get rid of it, it's a choice and not an unavoidable eventuality. A foolish choice, if you ask me.

I'll be fine, guess I needed to feed the fish today so they'll stick around

Up $6 today, yihaaaaa! Was down ~2BIs after 140 hands and had to grind it back. Could be worse I guess

What happens when you start PT, do you get any error messages?

Edit: If you can start PT go to "Configure-Options-Enable Logging" then restart PT. This will create a logfile and it might reveal what is wrong.

Well, maybe I'm out of touch.

The thing is today's younger workers aren't confronted with the reality of that situation, because current retirees are still receiving their SS benefits. It'll be the kids being born today who will start to ask themselves why they should get a job if they are going to end up cast aside by society like today's young workers will (possibly) be.

My help ticket:

I purchased PT2 last year and have been running it in Parallels on my Mac.

The C drive in Parallels was not large enough, so we had to create a new C drive and transfer everything over.

When I try to start PT2 it says I'm running a trial version of the program. If I go ahead with PT2, I get an "Unable to determine the Poker tracker folder (ue_regjavaobject). Please contact us at support@pokertracker.com." If I click OK, I get, "Unable to connect to the hand history database. 999-SQLSTATE=IM002 {Microsoft}{ODBC Driver Manager} Data source name not found and no default driver specified. When I click OK, PT2 quits.

Since one of the reasons I needed to increase my C drive was to upgrade to PT3, I downloaded the trial of PT3, (without PostgreSQL).

On the Configure PostSQL Server box, I've tried to enter the password I have written down from the first installation and get the message, "Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration.

I submitted this last night, about 19 hours ago - no reply yet.

I'm in the process of trying to install HEM right now. If I succeed, we will have proof there is a God!

Why is it the governments responsibility to make sure they don't get cast aside? If they realize nobody will help them if they don't help themselves they may... go out and get jobs and work.

Your PT2 breaking down will be a blessing in disguise.
Once you get used to HEM you wont look back.

Sammy, I still don't think I'm looking at it correctly. It doesn't seem solvable with the data provided.

Heuristics tells me about .260-.265, as the pitcher is going to need a bluff% of 10 to keep the batter on his toes, but the batter will be optimistic and look for more curveballs.

But I still need to nail down one more variable to come up with a single answer.

what you do is draw two EV lines, one for the pitcher and one for the batter,
where the intersect (.260) is the EV on the balance strategy.

Now each player can now start implement a guessing strategy to try to get above the intersection, but neither player can actually do better than their own EV line.

Now whats interesting is that the Nash Equilibrium is actually the same for each player, guess fastball 4/5 of the time, and then it moves back to the EV cross section (un exploitable), but if either player is not doing the 4/5 strategy, the other player can exploit it.

In your example the pitcher is throwing 90% fastballs, if the batter guess 90% fastballs you should see it raise, but if guess around 70% fastball you should see it his average go down.
