And it does make sense to see getting better as an increase in hourly. But I think at the micro's its way more important to focus on the hands you play and the reason why you play them this way

Right, you improve in hand reading too because you are following other hands that are being played way more too.

With 12+ tabling you are just going to miss a lot that goes around on the table. Maybe thats made up for because you play more tables thus your winrate is higher, Idk.

I've been running bad lately for about a week, haven't been able to get anything to go right. I took last night off and went out and got drunk for the first time since NYE.

I'm a little hungover today so I didn't really want to play too much but I started chasing a fish that someone posted about in a 50nl game (25nl is my normal game but I remember Digger suggesting to try playing one table of a higher limit to get out of a funk so I thought I'd try this).

I made 2/3 of a buy-in from said fish so I thought I'd dabble a little more with 50nl. I played one table and I thought, Ok I'll open 2. I did that for a while and after about 1-2 hrs, I decided I can 4 table and still pay good attention so thats what I've been doing.

So far so good.

I drink to get drunk, so when I drink again, I'll be getting drunk. However, the days of getting drunk for days on end are over.

I heard it used as a hook in a Pokerroad show late last year, then I heard it used as a hook in this week's 2+2 Pokercast. Decided to find the whole thing last night to figure out why it kept showing up.

Variance itself will not increase, but perceived variance will increase. The micro stakes player who posts on here who plays 20k hands a month will have more perceived variance since his or her breakeven stretches will last longer since their volume is low. Whereas the grinder who plays 100k hands will get through a rough patch much quicker.

I don't think increasing hourly is the best strategy for the micro player, especially the micro player intending to move up.

Ya. At one point I moved all my play to live, and that's one of the reasons I moved back to online. Variance is variance, but at 30 hands per hour, take a couple sick beats and it'll take months of grinding to make it back. When you're racking up the hands, you can grind it back in hours or days, and the same run of variance drifts into the background.
