That's considered like the greatest hip-hop song of all-time almost.

And Biggie's movie just came out a few weeks ago.
Ya, I saw that and I figured it has to be a level. If not a level I'm surprised you made it this far in life without hearing that song fopah. At least you learned something about black history during this month, more than I can say for myself.

Just a huge east coast (douche bag) bias imo. And imo sometimes being in the minority is better.

so this weekend was homecoming week here at school (we dont have a football team so it is planned around a basketball game). so friday afternoon we had some people over for some beer pong bfore we went to the school for the random festivities that they had.

i recognized one kid that came over with one our friends from my business 101 class i am taking. we got introduced and talked for a few mins here and there. nothing special or n e thing. he seemed kinda like a sketch ball but nothing serious so w/e.

well i guess we went over to his house saturday night at some point in the night (i remember the house and i remember seeing some people and a few other random memories but dont remember much of that part of the night at all). well i guess he was there and me and my crew were obv hammered drunk at the time we showed up.

sooooooooo... fast forward to monday morning. i get to business a couple mins early. it is a small classroom and small class. about 20 people in the class and the room could handle maybe 30 or so. so this dude rolls up a min after me and has one ear bud in his ear and is listening to some music. well he sees me and hollers out "wuts happenin boss!" now this wasnt a normal volume statment to say the least. it was closer to a yell then it was to a normal volume. so i am already embarrassed about this. a bunch of the people in the class kinda look at him weird b/c he is talking so loud.

well his very next comment is to me and in the same loud ass volume. he says, "dude u and ur friends were sooo smashed when u came over saturday night."

i look up and essentially EVERYONE in class including the teacher r giving me a sketchy look to say the least. DEAR GOD

so class continues and the prof is handing back the tests we took friday (that i did not know about until i got to class and she handed them out (but i got a 97.5% so suck on that **** )). while she is doing this i text my roommate the outrageousness that had just happened moments earlier.

before i can finish i hear the professor ask me if i am texting. i laugh and play it off but she walks over to my desk and looks in my lap and sees my phone obv. she takes my phone and puts it in a pickle jar up at the front of class that has a sign on it that says "confiscated phones"

GREATTTTTTTT. this is the first time she has pulled this stunt all semester long. she has given several warnings to other people and threatened to do such an act but of course i am made the example . again all the kids in class get a good laugh at my expense. this is now twice in the first 10 mins of class. DEAR GOD

so then after we go over the test we r supposed to present our group project we did in class last wed. well of course the other two kids in my group r not even in class. SIGH! so i am stuck alone. and she even makes a joke about me having to do it all alone and my teammates leaving me stranded.

so she explains wut she wants. she says for each group to come to the front of the class and says she wants us to talk a min or two each and explain wut we did and all that ****.

well the first group stands up and is headed toward the front of the class. the teacher says " ehhh u guys can just do it from ur desks."

so they go through with theirs. as does the next 3 groups. NONE of these groups go to the front of class to explain their ****. they all do it from their desk. my turn is next and i stand up and clear my throat. as soon as i begin she stops me and says "Zak u should do urs up in front here. right next to me."

again everyone in class laughs and i am forced to stumble up to the front of the class and present my "group" project alone.

of course none of the remaining groups go to the front. i am the lone person who took that honor. at this point i was tempted to just cut my loses and walk out of class but wimped out and stuck it out. thankfully we got to leave 20 mins earlier or i mighta committed suicide in class

**** MY LIFE
tl;dr

c notes?

tbh im not a big fan of biggie or pac. probably b/c i didnt grow up during their prominence.

(fair or not) hard to call big the GOAT when he only had 2 albums drop.
2pac has a much more extensive catalog but im not familiar with it at all.

btw zak thats BS you get called up to do **** you have to be breezing through the class you just got a A on a test wtf.
02-24-2009 , 01:36 AM

this was the first rap album i listened to i think.
02-24-2009 , 01:38 AM
idk how much credit Dr. Dre gets as an MC...only two solo albums 10 years apart, he was apart of NWA though. i never checked the credits but I know Jay-Z wrote the single to that album (Still DRE)

no doubt about his impact as a producer/executive though.

Ahh, I have always liked just a couple genres of music at a time and listened to them pretty hardcore. I used to be into rap, I'm sure there is tons of songs you have listened to that I have never even heard.

I would recommend starting with 'All Eyez On Me.' My favorite cd is 'The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory' though, so both are good to listen to.

ive been trying to pin down my favorite rap album for awhile...its hard. i think if you put a gun to my head i would have to go with

-Came out at the height of the Nas/Jay-Z beef in 2001
-Gave birth to the 'soulful' style of sampling through production by an unknown Kanye West. This ended up opening the window for Kanye to sign with Roc-A-Fella and his solo career to develop, which led to a bunch of other artists (John Legend, resurrection of Common) hitting the map
-Jay-Z was highly criticized and people said he was falling off after his Volume 3 album, he really elevated and cemented his status as the best MC at that time.

probably others would include
Little Brother-The Listening
Common-Be
Nas-Illmatic
A Tribe Called Quest-Midnight Marauders
