Anyone know how to free up disk space by getting rid of HEM hands? I've tried pretty much everything in the FAQ and it seems like I purged a lot of hands and I've tried the Vacuum Analyze Database and it stops after like a minute and doesn't free up any space. If anyone including lurkers can help me with this I'll sweat you for a few hours...I should be able to figure this out but its bugging the hell out of me and I can't

Vac/Analyze doesnt free up space, only purging/deleting would. What are you looking at, that suggests you didnt gain anymore free space? Your SQL directory size? Is your C\drive too full? What else is on it that could be deleted?? How big is your SQL directory? Try deleting all the log files in your \pg_log\ directory?

WinDirStat is a nice app for being able to see the sizes of all the various directories while browsing your HD's folders/files. It might help you to see what is taking up soo much space.

yah snow day back from being out for a few hrs on the slopes

Yea I used WinDirStat. C/Drive is full and I already deleted a bunch of stuff before as it was filling up. My C drive is 70.6 GB and Postgre takes up 43.3. pg_log is 15.7BG are those the hands I purged before?

delete everything in the pg_log folder, and then i would suggest a defrag with Defraggler. there is a way to turn off logging, or to cap the amount of log files I think, but I just manually delete the files every so often, as I havent been playing much. That is 16gb of wasted space for the log files. You have lots of observed/mined hands? If you only have a 70gb HD I would almost suggest exporting all your hands, starting a new DB and deleting your old DB (then defrag), and then re-import all the hands while filtering out all observed hands to cut down on the DB size. Then of course deleting the logs from time to time. I would also suggest following that 'SQL Optimization' thread in the zoo by JSchell.

I do pgadmin vacuum analyse full then go away for a while and make a brew.
Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > PGAdmin

Connect to your HEMM DB, and Right Click > Maintenance > Vacuum

^^as fozzy says, didn;t see him there

Also have you got logging turned on?
Got to \RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Logs and check for big files.

Thanks, deleting pg_log worked as a quick fix and I'll look into the other stuff. PM/IM me if you want a sweat, are you getting back into holdem lately?

Definitely make sure you do a defrag after deleting 25% of your drives capacity.

I played 2 short sessions yesterday, for a total of almost 500 hands. And I actually won some money. Unfortunately I am still a nit, so I could probably use a sweat from someone like you once I get a few thousand hands in to get comfortable on the tables.
