I've gotten stacked six times with AA in the lost two days. Including one hand where this dude with a 3bet of 1.9 over 800 hands 3bet in the SB and I flatted in BB. QT9 flop and he has J8 obv.

Tilt cannot be the state of mind where you can't make any rational decisions. Even when I'm making ace high calls at 10NL I can tell you that slaughtering babies is wrong; I might even be able to answer very tricky physics questions. People who needs stop loss have varieties of tilt where they can't make good meta decisions at the same time as they can't make good poker decisions. This is probably true for many people, but for some people these are more separated than others.

Regardless, I think you're right for many people and certainly for more people than will think you're right for them.

Obv you've never read some of the famous bbv threads like:

"I stabbed myself in the leg"

"I stabbed somebody at a poker game"

and the others where people destroy things that cost more than they lost because of tilt.

But he's not meaning it this way, he means that it's when you can no longer operate at the level you usually do because of anger/fear of losing - not that you're goin to go punt a baby across the yard if you lose another flip.

brian, why not play some 25nl for a bit, get a winning streak going, and regain confidence?

There is an EV calc for this although i can't remember how to do it. If anything i would imagine it is a very high variance and thin play.
edit: also good luck seeing villain have a 12.5% 3b in this situation. It is totally different to a SB vs BTN dynamic, in which case your jam is probably way more -EV.
08-05-2010 , 02:38 PM
basically he needs to be squeezing >6% of the time. we don't really care whether he calls or folds AQ. that being said you better be damn sure his range is wide

actually think i should just play some PLO for a while

with this many people in the pot his range is more nutted. i have done this a decent bit against squeeze happy villains in more standard spots though. it's definitely tilt inducing and you get a lot of guys who will call with AJ/KQ because they "got odds"
08-05-2010 , 02:42 PM
i wouldnt think '12.5% 3b after 400 hands' is enough to shove there. any read about him multiple times squeezing garbage in non steal spots would be good to gogo though.

Yeah i edited my post, this is definitely not a standard spot. Despite the fact i don't know a lot about villain but i would imagine his 3b range to be something like 4-5% so QQ+ AK for value and a few rando bloofs.

Also PLO is a hit and miss imo, if you run bad its horrendous but if you run good its amazing.

just fwiw the reason jamming 99 is profitable here is exactly what happened. A huge portion of his range for getting it in is AK.
