When you are levels above most people, it is difficult too motivate yourself to play poker anymore since it is not a challenge too win all the $$$.

You can always play poker on the side and still go to school just put less hours in imo

I'm glad I used my run up to my 5kth post to talk smack to Wizard. I think its fitting.

2 runner runners while 200bb deep within 5 minutes of each other. After I lost the 2nd I went on an angry tilt rampage and actually punched the wall, lol. I obviously have some serious tilt issues I need to address. I've learned to not play when I'm angry tilted, which is a big improvement for me, but I'd like to not go into frustrated irrational caveman mode after hands like these.

Any tilt recommendations? I read through the poker mindset but it wasn't very helpful. Same with the 8fold path to poker enlightment, just seemed like cheesy nonsense.

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is CO with Q Q
UTG calls $0.10, Hero raises to $1.00, 2 folds, BB raises to $2.75, 1 fold, Hero calls $1.75

Flop: ($5.70) 8 Q 4 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $4.44, BB raises to $8.88, Hero raises to $22.20, BB calls $13.32

Turn: ($50.10) 7 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $33.88 all in, BB calls $33.88 all in

River: ($117.86) 6 (2 players - 2 are all in)

Final Pot: $117.86
Hero shows Q Q (three of a kind, Queens)
BB shows K K (a flush, King high)
BB wins $59.35

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is MP with 4 4
UTG raises to $1.00, Hero calls $1.00, CO calls $1.00, BTN calls $1.00, 2 folds

Flop: ($4.35) 4 9 5 (4 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $3.35, CO calls $3.35, BTN calls $3.35, UTG folds

Turn: ($14.80) K (3 players)
Hero bets $11.76, CO folds, BTN calls $11.76

River: ($38.32) 5 (2 players)
Hero bets $30.94 all in, BTN calls $30.94 all in

Final Pot: $100.20
BTN shows 5 K (a full house, Fives full of Kings)
Hero shows 4 4 (a full house, Fours full of Fives)
BTN wins $56.82

EV$difference= $0.00

The all in EV line is a ****ing waste of a line

If villian in first hand had the flush on the turn I probably wouldn't have been too bothered but I was 99% sure he had AA or KK when he fish check minraised me. Same with the 2nd hand, if I had lost to 99 or 55 I would have just shrugged it off. But something about ******ed fish getting rewarded for being ******s (K5 offsuit, flatting my multiway lead with middle pair) drives me insane.

yeh gooner i've got very similar tilt problems. like i got no problem getting set over set or whatever but particular hands where villain plays super ******ed and ends up winning a buyin from me send me into raging tilt mode.

i'm found that it's best to just play lots of super short sessions, like 45 minutes, and take a 15 minute break in between. i always play best in my first 45 minutes anyways and it keeps that going also.
08-30-2010 , 01:05 PM
but then i think, few minutes more till i'm BE

yeah pretty much the same.

truth be told mate, i dont think im gonna play poker again seriously for a very long time. my nature dictates that everything about it as a game makes it destructive and degenerative for me, and im usually living much healthier and happier without it. i also have massive problems with regards to seeing the bigger picture in terms i need instant gratification all the time, i.e. big winning sessions, crushing weekends, massive heaters etc. its just a big mentality fail when ability wise i can comfortably beat NL100

Supposedly just setting goals in terms of playing a certain # of hands and not checking whether you are up or down is helpful, but I haven't yet been able to do it. I'm really going to give it a shot this week though. I'm not checking anything but the # of hands I've played.

From playing around the variance simulators, I know that at any 5k hand sample I'll be swonging all over the place. But it still makes me nauseous when the most improbable (2-5%) **** happens.

I never used to rage tilt until I started playing HUSNGS. They have to be the most tilt inducing form of poker & I carried alot of bad tilting habits like yelling at the screen and punching ****. You take the chip lead early because they are a ******ed calling station. Then you make the perfect play, inducing a shove to end the match, but they spike on the river to counterfeit your 2pair, they had TPNK. Then you're a slight underdog chipswise & lose with AK to A3 all in pre, flop 33x. Now you're a shortstack and have to shove top 20% pre and first time you shove a marginal hand like K9 they wake up with JJ and its over... I still have nightmares.

Flop should be $1 or 2 larger and turn should be 3 or 4 more.

Turn: ($50.00) A (2 players)
Hero bets $38.00, BTN/SB calls $38

River: ($126.00) J (2 players)
Hero bets $143.40, BTN/SB calls $127.10 all in

Durrrr vs Jungle on now. Wtf happened to the 75bb rule? Pretty ridiculous to offer up this challenge claiming to be the great one and then shortstack.
