really?

I feel like there are tons of Jx hands in my range that I can rep once he checks turn.

He is never c/raising turn here and he is definitely bluffcatching here with worse some % of the time. And he probably expects me to give up a good amount on the river because he himself can def be c/calling turn thinking that I'm never calling with anything but Jx on the turn so there is no reason to bet?

shoving is terrible i would c/r just enough that he doesn't get 1:5 on implied odds

edit: optimally however I would just c/r smallerish (like somewhere between 2.5-3x)

i can see your reasoning but to play devil's advocate that's exactly the problem, even though you can rep jacks he never folds a monster so what's the point of repping a straight with top two pair when villain's range is nutted and he never folds anyway? Out of curiosity what was your plan for a blank river?

i am just assuming by the way that he was a pretty tight UTG opener given your preflop flat and that his range becomes nutted.

i went through a stretch yesterday of 4 set over sets across about a 20 minute span. I won two 100bb+ and lost two <60bb so it was fine, just hands like this are part of what makes this game stupid imo. Oh, and pocket deuces are set magnets. three of the hands involved pocket deuces.

i can remember the days when you could get AQ in on the flop confidently against another reg for 100bb on a qxx tt flop...

it's a fold against most competent players and quite a few fish. actually i can only think of a few players it's not a fold against.
it's also a fold i am pretty incapable of making against most of those players
08-28-2010 , 05:33 PM
oh okay, just checking

lolbrian

fwiw there are a few players i think it's a fistpump snap against, but i can't see a hand in his range most players would
a)c/r for value that we beat
b)be able to semibluff turn after calling flop
c)turn into a bluff

note i'm assuming most wouldnt c/r QJ/JJ/99 hands as a semibluff
08-28-2010 , 05:38 PM
brian, if your stacking off range in 3bet pots doesn't include overpairs, what does it include?
08-28-2010 , 05:44 PM
why does ur stacking range in 3bet pots always have in include overpairs?

08-28-2010 , 05:51 PM

08-28-2010 , 05:52 PM

I didn't have any post-flop reads, other than he was a 33/12. I did have a 37/32 image though after about 40 hands, 28% 3bet.
