What I mean more than what year something came out is, the overall underlying style and texture.
ACDC, even though they released music in the 80s and is still touring now, is a 70s band. Their style is very much in line with the 70s rock - hard guitar, ballsy singing, sexy lyrics, etc.
GNR has that 90s sound more than 80s.
80s is all poppy and lacks balls. When I think of 80s music, I think of stuff like 99 red love balloons. That's kind of an epitome of 80s music. BTW, I like that song, there's just something about it.
But overall, I just can't stand 80s music. To this day, most of my playlists are 90s songs.
