I'm already getting nervous about playing today after thinking about that.
for the last time the cashout curse is a myth, the bonus clearing curse is the one you have to watch out for

Question for you guys.

Do you own a safe? I have always had at the bare minimum a small fireproof safe for my important documents and stuff.

Well when I bought my house I had a more permanent safe installed in the basement. (this seems totally normal to me.)

Everyone who has ever seen it or been told about it thinks I am a weird for having a safe.

Having a safe is totally standard right?

Not standard, but it is high on my list of things to buy. I used to keep a SD box when I had my business but dont any more. I obv want a safe for my guns.

WTF do you put into your safe? Unless it's something that you don't want family members to access or know about, I don't really see the point of investing the money into something that screams, "Valuables!" to any competent home invader.

I have a fire safe for my personal documents and assortments. It's more like a fire proof drawer for most intents and purposes.

I have one of the small fireproof ones. I got it after I misplaced my birth certificate and had to have one overnighted.

Competent home invaders would never rob me.

I like it because I can keep a decent amount of cash on hand and not worry about some teenager breaking in and finding it under my mattress. I also like to have my important documents secure when I go out of town.

Not to mention if I ever find a kilo of blow or a suitcase full of money I will have someplace to put it.

why would they never rob u lol??

Maybe I am way off here, but I live in a middle class neighborhood. People on my street don't have jewels or gold bars and ****.

Why on earth would someone who is proficient at Safe Cracking break into a middle class house which is unlikely to have many valuables and even more unlikely to have a safe?

The people that would potentially break into my house are....Teenagers, Drug addicts, Idiots. None of which imo are likely to be called "competent home invaders"
08-26-2010 , 06:15 PM
I think the discussion about "competent" home invaders is irrelevant. The top 5% or less of home invaders cannot crack a safe so what's the point of this conversation? Regardless of competency any home invader can stash things laying out in plain site or in drawers into a bag. I think if you have cash or semi-valuable jewelry and don't have a security system then a safe is perfectly fine. Although I would not call it standard.

If you own firearms I think it's a must, especially if you have children. Plus safe's are generally fireproof which is important for valuable documents and other things you wouldn't want to loose in the event of a fire. Family heirlooms, irreplacable jewelry, antiques, sentimental things.

if you would have valueable documents and irreplacable jewelry , why not put them in a bank deposit box ? even more safe if you ask me
or are the chances of holdups in bank deposit box areas in the usa 100 times larger then in belgium

I don't have any of these things but I would surmise that valuable jewelry that you wear frequently would be better kept in a safe in house rather than running to the bank every time you want to wear 3 karat diamond studs. Also if these documents are used fairly often (I think Hoagie can expound on what type of documents he means) running to the bank would be a hassle. If you own property maybe signed originals for leases and loan documents or other legal documents that need to be drawn upon at short notice would fall into this category. Hoagie owns a construction related business so he probably keeps contracts and other related papers in the safe so he can use them at a moments notice.

Yeah, banks are only open till like 5, so if you need something regularly, you don't want to keep going to the bank for it. Just get a safe.
