Anyways brew, serious poker related question:

Since I've started playing a bit more lol/live poker lately, I've already found myself asked what I do for a living.. and being that I don't have a job right now, I don't want to tell them straight up that I'm a grinder, but at the same time I personally find it hard to lie to people straight to their face when I know there's a very real possibility that I may run into these same people within a week or two down the road again. How would you guys handle these situations? And DO NOT even sarcastically link me to that BBV thread about "what I tell people I do for a living" either.

Well, I'm going on 27 soon, so I don't know how long the student gimmick could work, and isn't it illegal to be considered a professional card counter? And pro sports betting sounds even more degen than actual poker playing lol. And unlike you, I think I'll probably spend about 95% of my poker playing in the next year or 2 at this particular casino, so I'm sure run ins will be pretty frequent there, as I can already recognize a few of the guys are basically grinders as well.

Could go with Cam's idea and say something along the lines of working for a .com company in the "Shipping" department importing and exporting FPPs

Never crossed my mind that a Sunday drinking league would have it's playoff games scheduled on a Saturday morning when all the other games this year since April have been on Sunday. I was at the casino at 4 am anyways that morning and I have no idea how I would've managed sleeping/staying awake with a 9:30 am game and then 12:00/1:00 game to follow. So it's whatever now.

I'm already starting to tell my buddies that I'll be primed and ready to go for next year. Might get a new bat this off season and maybe try to add a couple pounds and workout like crazy since I'll be coming into a baseball player's prime years. I want to be in serious shape for 2011 I think, it's a goal everyone can strive for next year. So hopefully I can start tagging chicks like this.

It's not illegal, it's frowned upon.
