I have wanted to get into trading for quite sometime now. All I have ever done is like that fantasy trading for a business class like 2 years ago. I really have no clue, but my friend just started a job at Merrill Lynch.

I am more than willing to try and learn. As if I need something else to be degen about.

Check out Susquehanna International Group. They are a proprietary trading firm headquartered about 15 minutes from my house in Bala Cynwyd, PA. It's effectively a self-funded hedge fund that engages in high frequency trading of all kinds. They trade equities, commodities, bonds, and currency. It was started by 4 poker players who made a ton of money after college in Vegas ring games and wanted to put their money to work in the market. Bill Chen works for them doing theoretical stock market models and simulations. Their junior trading program consists of 1/2 observing traders and supporting the trading desk, and 1/2 classroom sessions that include large amounts of online poker. Their college recruiting interviews are poker tournaments designed to get to know candidates and see how well they perform quantitatively.

I have a friend that works there and he told me their first round interview is basically a sheet of conditional probability questions (10 in total I think) and if you miss one you don't make the cut.

Would you guys be more content with winning consistently at low limits or taking a higher risk/reward at higher limits when playing live?
Higher, always higher.

Thac,
I feel like the first 2 are your type.

The third one is just absurd.

Hoagie, spot on. I didn't even look at the post before the pictures and said "god damn 1 and 2", then I read.

Had a very busy/productive day.

Morning show, wrote/edited sports, napped, played with netbook, went to HS scrimmage, reported to the radio station, then worked our station's coverage of local elections for like 4-5 hours.

About to watch some Wire, pass out, and do it all again tomorrow (minus the elections, after HS scrimmage tomorrow, I'm partying!)

Back from the casino again. After I isolated this pretty big (physically big) limping fish a couple of times and took down some medium sized pots off of him, he called me out saying something along the lines of "that's gonna be the last time" lol. I then later won a nice sized pot off of him when I was able to see the flop from my BB for free with 23o and the flop was 456 lol. I'm pissed that I missed a river bet when a possible flush hit and he checked it to me in position and I gave him credit for being able to bluff me off of a made straight and I weaky checked the river.

Then I saw a guy about my age flop a set of 3's against this dude who flopped top set of A's and got it all in on the turn (who they said slow rolled him lol) and the kid had a 5 minute whine rant about how "unreal it is" lol. I got in AK against AA last night at the same place and felt like that was a cooler, I just wanted to tell that nit to suck it up and grind on.

Overall, I had a pretty solid day, things went very well.

Sir, you're talking to a live player, what is this VPIP you speak of?
