Not sure about stars but on ipoker it works like this:

Once you play a hand any currency conversions are rounded. Other than the instances where you don't play a hand, conversions are rounded down when you buy in and when you cash out (both in the sites favor).

The site isn't trying to steal your pennies, it's just necessary to prevent people from taking advantage of rounding. For example if it was rounded normally and the conversion rate is 1 euro = 1.4 usd, you buy in to a euro table for 1 euro cent and get 1 usd cent gets taken out of your account. Do this 3 times 3 usd cents get taken out of your account and then you leave the table and your 3 euro cents on the table get converted to 4.2 usd cents and you get 4 usd cents back into your account.

Yes, I remember that. But iPoker is different because iPoker is run by monkeys! I used to play on iPoker and reloaded only when I was below 90% or so of my initial stack to minimise this daylight robbery.

I haven't seen this problem on stars when I tested it but will double check from time to time on the euro tables. I will report here if I find anything worrying.

The rounding's should go 50% of the time in favour of the players and 50% of the time in favour of the site, on average, in the long run. It shouldn't be always 100% in favour of the site. It might seem like only a penny here and there, but there will be many thousands of occurrences of this happening each day across the player pool that it would actually still be a nice little money spinner for Stars.

If they used the 'rounding half to even' method, then that would be fine.

Your example of buying in for one cent doesn't seem right because isn't the minimum buy-in always a lot higher than that, like for instance the minimum buy-in at $2NL is $0.80.

It should, but they would have to round randomly because otherwise players can calculate which amounts round in their favour.

Rounding half to even (or even rounding 99% to what's best for stars) allows players to take advantage by buying in / topping up with amounts which round in their favour

Nobody plays 16nl reg tables n 16nl zoom prob gets deleted soon, the bet sizing is annoying even for fish, 8 entries on it now hahha.

Cause some 25nl fish move to 16nl making 25nl tougher which makes weaker 25nl players move to 16nl. Less 25nl players move up to 50nl making 50nl tougher so part of the 50nl pool moves to 25nl. Then 100nl becomes tougher for the same reason and some of the pool goes to 50nl.
