Out of curiosity, I went back and forth with Stars until getting some sort of answer (i.e. they're puzzled) as to how it's possible for a player to have their location show as Italy:

Your email was escalated to me as the Senior Poker Specialist on duty, responsible for handling complex queries and VIP emails.
I have had a look through this case and can inform you, as stated previously, that we are looking into this matter and resolving this mystery.
As for your question, it is *not* possible for a player that is physically in Italy, to play on .COM or .EU. They can only play on .IT as you correctly stated. The question therefore should be "how is it possible for someone to display a location whilst they are actually not there".
Without breaching our privacy policy, I can inform you that the player in question was not in Italy when you were playing against them. The technical aspect of how this player was able to have this location showing is something that is being investigated internally as we speak. If any issues are found we will resolve them so that incorrect locations like in this case will no longer be shown. We can not inform you further regarding specific circumstances.
