Such a large number of people just blindly accept the world they were born into. I think the referendum has inspired a heap of people in Scotland (and hopefully throughout the world) to take a step back and ask themselves some bigger questions.

Why should a group of people have a government? If we can agree that's a good idea, what should it be like? How should we decide who's in it? What should it's primary function be?

Whatever the result of the referendum, I'm so glad it's inspired so many people to engage with the world around them and reconsider so many of the things we as a people accept without question.

(Please notice no references to nationalism anywhere, for me this is about systems of governance/democracy. Also Ponty, you sir are a ****ing nit. )
Agree it's much better people are thinking about stuff, just think a ton of people are ignoring the economic implications and getting carried away (even if you aren't personally). Tbf most of the stuff I read might be English propoganda, but the economic reading in University is often dated a couple of years and has little reason to be biased.
Whatever happens, tomorrow is a crazy big day ha!

Already decided who I'm voting for in the next election regardless; http://www.gusthefox.com/2014/09/gus....html?spref=tw (don't worry mods its not blogspam)

They both generic American things with 6 litre engines, producing 40hp per litre at a 5000rpm redline, returning 10 mpg? :P

Just got this email:

Dear MeleaB,

Due to new regulations, all gaming services available to players in the United Kingdom must be licensed in the UK. As a result, all PokerStars players in the UK are required to move their account to the new PokerStars UK software to continue using the service. From 00:01 BST on October 1, you will need to move your account to PokerStars UK in order to continue playing.

Your log-in details, account balance, VIP status and history will NOT be affected, and you will still be able to enjoy all PokerStars games with players from around the world.

You will find that the great features you are used to using will still be available, with the exception of the ‘auto-rebuy’ function in ring games and tournaments, which due to UK regulations will no longer be offered. VIP Club rewards will be unaffected for the remainder of 2014 but will be reduced slightly for 2015 compared to PokerStars.com, by an amount equal to roughly half of the amount of the UK tax. More details on the 2015 VIP program changes will be available later in the year.

Moving your account will be quick and straightforward, and you’ll be automatically prompted to do so when you log-in after September 30. Players using PokerStars Mobile will need to download the new UK-specific apps from the App Store or PokerStars Mobile site.

As a special thank you to our players, everyone who moves to PokerStars UK by October 5 will be able to play in our series of daily PokerStars UK Freerolls, with £5,000 added. Running every night from October 1-5 at 20:00 BST, each tournament has a £1,000 added prize pool. The sooner you move your account to PokerStars UK, the more freerolls you can play. Click the link below for more details.

I didn't think there would be any changes due to the new tax laws, but hopefully this isn't too bad (so long as the VIP Club rewards are reduced too much.)

One more reason for the Scottish based players to vote "Yes" today!

Not really, this is from the goverments 'White Paper'

'Gambling: it is estimated there are 30,500 problem gamblers in Scotland[280]. With independence, Scotland will have the powers to better tackle problem gambling through effective regulation of the industry, in contrast to Westminster's approach of greater deregulation[281].

Changes suck. But i get 0.0000001 vpp/hand anyway so dont care too much.

Lack of auto rebuy is a complete ballache though, going to be like grinding in 2008 again :P

What the hell is this about? Is this supposed to help degens or something? Surely only around 1% of problem gamblers even use auto rebuy

What are the changes with taxes in the UK? You all haven't been paying taxes thus far, right?

I'm assuming PS wont mind players using a 3rd party software/script to auto buy-in

We all used to use TN to do it before Stars implemented the feature.

It's tedious but it could be worse I suppose- we're lucky that the effect is only minor.

I'm really hoping that the VIP isn't effected too much though; I think I could cope with a 10% decrease of required, I doubt the £ will be as strong as it has been the past year or so again any time soon if Scotland vote yes......
