Q6s got unjustly banned but I'll give my referendum opinion here.

Basically from a purely English POV I think it'll be distinctly unfair if you vote yes.

Already loads of financial establishments have given warnings about the uncertainty of the future of our economy due to the referendum, and a yes vote basically guarentees another 18 months of uncertainty. In economics, uncertainty costs money, so it could even send us into another recession.
Even if you really don't care about the new UKs people, our economies will still be linked in the same way Greece affected France, so you should care for that reason about the negative economic effects a Yes would give.

As far as I understand, RBS and Lloyds (which are taxpayer owned and based in Scotland) are simply too big liabilities for an independent Scotland to take on, so would have to relocate, which is kinda an example of you picking and choosing which things you are indepedent of. Goes without saying the relocation= more uncertainty= decrease in value = all taxpayers lose money really.
There's a lot of propoganda flying around about Trident and MPs expenses scandal, but where do you build Trident if you own the UK? and Scottish MPs aren't exempt from the scandal.

RE not getting the government you voted for, I sympathise a bit but then if you follow that argument down Bristol could be like 'we voted labour and it's a conservative government, we want to be independent' which would get ridiculous, obviously a bit different but same principle.

Also from an English POV Scotland leaving UK leads to one party dominance which i'm unsure of how I feel about but is definitely a bad thing in a lot of peoples views, not particularly your concerns though.
I have seen a lot of people on the news saying stuff like 'I believe in free education at all levels for all and free healthcare for everyone, equality for all' and it's really just stupid, I could say 'I believe in everyone being able to play 10knl and win' doesn't mean it'll happen, a bit of realism is needed here.

I think a lot of people are being nationallist for the sake of being nationallist, generally people like the idea of change, grass is always greener on the other side.
But that's my cynical english two cents, by no means right.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I hope you don't see this as hostile, but saying Bristol didn't vote in tories so they should go independent is a bit of a silly example. Considering we're talking about a whole county, and a country that has not had the party they have voted in for 33 years.

For some people 18 months of uncertainty is worth ^ that alone. For the rest its the faith they have in the Scottish parliament to make the right decisions for the people of Scotland.

The banks HQ moving to England in a yes vote is as important as the HQ being in Scotland now whilst 96% of there custom is in England.

For English it's easy to say we're being nationalist for the sake of it. But if u were Scottish I promise you'd see it differently.

No votes probably winning anyway. But The rest of Britain will always be our friends, family and allies.

If I was scottish I would vote No. There are way too many unresolved issues for a Yes vote to make any sense (to me personally). The fact that Alex Salmond deemed it necessary to give the vote to people as young as 16 (who quite frankly are usually stupid, nationalistic and easily led) should give you an indication of how he feels the more educated scottish person is likely to vote.

(To clarify I don't think someone voting Yes would be uneducated)

Haha I know your not the type to be that stupid and think like that anyway Pontylad.

If I'm honest I do think Salmond expected 16-18 year olds to be like 90% yes, but it's backfired as bizarrely 16-24 yr olds are thought to be the largest % of No voters along with 55+.

Betfair have paid out on the No vote, obv as some sort of publicity stunt to show how clued up they are. It is almost a lock for the no camp but hopefully Salmond has atleast shown the world how important we are.

There were guys in the referendum thread who thought the UK was some sort of country ran by England :/ pretty unbelievable any over the age of 12 didn't know what the UK was

Honestly, I think the referendum is the best thing that has happened to Scotland since I've been alive. A whole generation of people have woken up and started ask themselves: "hold on, see EVERYTHING? why do we do it like that? who decided we should do it like that?". Such a large number of people just blindly accept the world they were born into. I think the referendum has inspired a heap of people in Scotland (and hopefully throughout the world) to take a step back and ask themselves some bigger questions.

Why should a group of people have a government? If we can agree that's a good idea, what should it be like? How should we decide who's in it? What should it's primary function be?

Whatever the result of the referendum, I'm so glad it's inspired so many people to engage with the world around them and reconsider so many of the things we as a people accept without question.

(Please notice no references to nationalism anywhere, for me this is about systems of governance/democracy. Also Ponty, you sir are a ****ing nit. )
