Seriously, NL50 and NL100 have change so much in the last two months. Its not the tight/nittiness as the past, now people are crazy aggressive and getting it in really light.

Value calling is the new thing..........

Yeah, KS, even I* can beat $50 for a decent WR.

________________________________________

*I had an interesting experience last night during my second session:

I was on my usual 10 tables grinding it out. I got into a hand with the fish at the table--was like a 60/20 drooler or so, don't recall his exact stats, but he was bad--and won a nice pot, but didn't get his whole stack, so he stayed at the table.

A reg against whom I have 1500+ hands, xxxIBFTxxx chats:

"wow, the second worst player at the table can't figure out what was going on there."

Nobody says anything.

He continues:

"In case you are wondering, mpethy, you are the worst player at the table."

I don't say anything, but I'm a little shocked that he'd start berating me for no reason (he and I rarely tangle, I'm up on him like $14 in 40 hands played out of the 1500+ we have together).

He goes on:

"So the second worst player at the table can't figure out what's going on against the worst player."

I'm kind of stunned by all of this, and, tbh, he is getting under my skin. So I type, "srsly, huh?"

He says yes.

I go, "man xIBFTx, don't hate me cuz I'm beautiful."

He says, "I don't hate you, I just think you are a terrible player and i think it's funny that you give advice on 2+2."

So now I am pretty freaked out, wondering if he really believes all this stuff or whether he is trying to tilt me or what the ****. I look him up in HEM, and see that he has a very modest +wr in my DB and I am up on him $9 as of that point.

So I decide to give him a little back:

"Ah, I see," I type, "you are hating on me because I am up on you lifetime."

He says, "Speak English? I don't hate you, I just think you are terrible."

We go on like this for a while, and it sort of peters out when I win a small pot from him HU.

The whole time I was just sitting there thinking, lol, wtf is this? It was so random, so out of the blue, that I really had no idea what to make of it.

I mean, I know I am nitty by what players currently think of as "good," and he is a 19/10 (kinda) LAg in my db, but wtf with this level of derision? Thoughts?

Different people play poker for different reasons. Some do it so they can feel superior.

Ug... I just had my worst weekend ever in terms of $$. Took a shot at 100 and had an EKG-like graph A couple bad beats but mostly coolers (I hope). There are plenty of fish at 50. I only have a small sample at 100 but there are still plenty of droolers. You should be able to steamroll 50 - 100 will prob only be slightly harder for you lol.

Now I just have to master not tilting when I move up and take coolers. It's crazy - this happens to me every single level like clockwork.

BTW, I feel dirty when I end up on your tables b/c everybody knows who you are but you don't know us. I usually avoid trying to tangle with you.

In the course of the chat tirade, after I busted on him about being up on him, he says, "do me a favor. Not now, because I don't want to distract you from crushing the game, but later, go into your DB and look up those hands you are up on me lifetime in, and critique your play."

Well, obviously, I was too curious not to do it, so i did that this morning and it all looks like standard stuff. I can see a few spots where I missed some value, and I there is a pot where I just called him down with KK against his AA after he flatted my 3 bet, but nothing is really stand out enough for him to have had any particular hand in mind when he was berating me, imo, unless he thinks it was inexcusable for me to not get stacks in on the AA v. KK hand. In fact, but for this hand, I'd actually be beating up on him pretty bad.

I appreciate this, but it is unnecessary. Back when I signed up for 2+2, I didn't really think about becoming recognizable by using the same screen name everywhere.

BUT, tbh, I am glad I did it this way. There are definite benefits at the table to being identifiable, especially when you are somewhat nitty.

yeah, he gets on me for a hand we played deep. I had JJ in the BB and he steals, I 3bets, he 4bets, my plan was to crai every flop since I knew I was ahead of his range (we were slightly deep), Flop comes J22 I crai him all in and he showed 44. He berates me for setmining there for about two weeks in the process he drops another $1k to me. We haven't played since.

I actually have notes on how to just play him that I keep by my computer.

Haha, yeah, I figure you must not care too much otherwise you wouldn't have done it.

The list of people I recognize is pretty small, so at this point I don't mind avoiding it. Especially since I'd much rather focus my attention on the fishies.

Kind of silly to berate any kind of reg as "the worst player at the table". Especially when the other guy is a complete donk. I'm a horrible fish at your stakes- but I'm better than that 60/40. Sounds to me like he was trying to tilt you.

a couple of deep hands, One hand we were $230 deep and I just hit a money flop on him but he paid it off but 97s can be dirty that way.

When people get it in for you, all your nutty hands go way up in value.

I am slowly realizing that a significant leak in my game is not adjusting to my online image--it's hard to accept that I actually have one. But, for instance, good players almost always have it against me when stacks go in. I see them getting in super light against other people, and against me it is always a set or w/e. So I tend to leak stacks against regs, who are capable of getting it all in pretty light, but won't do it against me.

I still look for opportunities against regs, but I only occasionally use them. I don't need to start any more wars.

Yeah, it seems that this is standard for him. TBH, it worked, he did tilt me a bit; but I am not a complete fish, and I went ahead and quit the session rather than keep playing after he had gotten under my skin.

Won't work a second time, though.

It would probably be pretty fun for you to start mixing in some lag-ish sessions. If everybody knows you as a nit you will have good steal equity and then you can end up showing up with some strange monsters that hit. It would take everybody's DB's a while to catch up. That would twist everyone's noodle.

So I had a hand last night that added to my donkey image. I have Q6o in the big blind.
Flop coms T89 4 ways, check around, Turn is a 2, checks around River is a 7, standard unknown bets $1.5 into a $2.5 potv folds back around to me.

I think "meh, donkey end of the straight is good enough to call here" He flips over 99 and pot ships to him with trips... Apparently the I had Q5o...and called down with Q high.....

I once played 8/6 for two or three weeks to make their HUD stats look like I'm a nit. Either less people than I think use a HUD or the ones that do have large samples, because I didn't notice any change in how I was treated. But of course, people don't know who I am either.

I rather people think I am a maniac than a nit. Its the micros so if people think you are a nit, you will win lots of pots. If people think you are a maniac, you can still win a lot of pots, but win more stacks. Now I am experimenting with some HUD manipulation moves....
