Shipping AK was one of my biggest leaks before I stopped doing it except in exceptional circumstances. nd even limiting myself to what I think are exceptional circumstances still has me losing $$ shipping AK.

YMMV, as I have a long history as an uber-nit, and I am starting to realize that most players are NEVER doing anything light against me, and thinking they might be is my #1 leak.

Yeah, I definitely think getting AK in pre profitably is contingent upon 3 betting a decent amount. If you are only 3 betting 3.x% and you get it in against an aware villain you are definitely not going to be flipping. Also, there has to be dead money for it to be profitable.

I've folded OOP... not sure about IP. But yeah, against a nit raising UTG I'd consider it due to RIO.

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

shipping AK is hugely dependent on image

If you run 10/8 and get it in w/ AK pre, it's likely pretty bad

If you run 18/16 with 6% 3b there are plenty of spots where shipping it is fine/standard (although mainly still in CO/BTN/blinds kinda spots)

don't forget villain's image either. getting it in against a 55/30 with AK is pretty close to a fistpump

On the subject of AK pre, those that don't want to get it in pre r u talking about not wanting to call A 5 bet shove or not wantin to 5bet with it? I ask cause with the amount that people 4bet bluff lately its uber profitable to be 5bet shipping with

In my career, shipping AK has been hugely unprofitable. I see AA more often than I see any other hand, and I cannot recall ever having seen a 100bb stack ship worse than QQ against me while I was holding AK. It may have happened, but I don't recall it.

of course you're going to lose money when you get called. now if they fold QQ/AK...

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

i mean it's kind of like the responding to 3bets, your goal isn't to win money doing it it's to minimize loss, right? even if you lose when you get AK in that doesn't mean that folding doesn't lose you more (or less, for that matter). you can probably say better than i can given the DBs you've looked at but it just seems to follow that you would lose money when you get called but that's not what the metric should be.
