Best of Tom Jones from groovy to fruity:

Tom Jones rose to fame in the 1960s as a singer with an exuberant live act that included wearing tight pants and billowing shirts, in an Edwardian style popular among his peers at the time. In 1963, Jones became the frontman for Tommy Scott and The Senators, a local beat group.

You couldn't even beat TP on a drawy board against a fish, and you fired more than one barrel? Where's the fire?

Are you going to activate the rest of my bonus? How about respond to my email?

I've interacted with FTP support a few times now and every single time the sequence is:
  • I send FTP support an email and wait a few days
  • after a few days without a response I ask them when they will get around to responding
  • I receive an email about "large number of emails" (LOL)
  • I wait some more
  • Maybe they respond, maybe I have to prod them a few more times

ZOMG, PokerStars support is like 5 star hotel treatment compared tho FTP's roach motel service. I can see why, if you were able to make SuperNova, that PS would be so much more preferable!

P.S. I'm still waiting for the rest of my deposit bonus to be activated. How hard is this to do? Pretty much everyone who does first deposits via eChecks has to go through this so you'd think they would have the process streamlined by now.

Sample size???

I got snipped years ago and had to go back and "give a sample" to see if my boys were still swimmers. The nurse hands to me what looks like a mayonnaise jar and I look up at her with bewildered eyes, and she says, "No we don't expect you to fill it." LOL

I was skeptical about AGW before the last week or two when I started reading the thread in politics. I read the thread, tracked down the scholarly articles (and one book) both making the case for and against AGW, read the climategate e-mails, read the congressional testimony, etc. It is what has taken the majority of my time for the last week or two.

My mind wasn't exactly open, but it wasn't closed, either. If I had seen convincing evidence for AGW, I would have changed my mind. Instead, what I found was convincing evidence of fraud. There is no doubt in my mind that I could convince any jury that the AGW people have rigged their data.

Furthermore, the case for AGW is consistently overstated. One of the foremost proponents of AGW has written a book reviewing the work of THE leading proponent of AGW. His conclusion--that the case for AGW is "plausible." Not "convincing," let alone "correct," just: "plausible."

So you don't think their range is wide enough on drawy boards to fire multiple barrels with non-TP hands?

Yeah, I should have realized this was your position as you are usually a reasonable person

I'm not prepared to fight the war of words either, I just felt like chiming in with my holier than thou elitist scientificy perspective.

It is like the "Obama is committing high treason by chairing the UN something or other" claim that appeared on wingnut sites a while back -- I don't personally have the legal expertise to refute the claim but these B.S. arguments have a common form that makes them easy to recognize if you are not actively wishing to be deceived. Ditto for anthropogenic climate change.

love how the debate over the next 6 weeks will be "should they raise it to x or y...if they raise it only to x that sucks, but if they raise it to y that is a drag..z would be great but will never happen....you suck"

40bb is not bad, since in theory you should commit with TPTK+ HU.

Hell, even if they raise it to 25, that's still going to kill some of the edge for them. They have to put 25% more money at risk for presumably the same reward.

But I think 40 would be good. Kind of excited about reading the SSer thread.

Are we still talking micros, or are you at 100NL? 'Cuz if we're talking micros I think it makes somewhat of a difference.

Saying you spent a few weeks digging into the material is far more convincing to me than saying "I could convince a jury to believe a particular viewpoint". Juries are notoriously bad at evaluating science.

Lots of climate change science is happening now and will continue to happen in the years to come. If I was not so impatient, I would gladly take the "AGW is real" side of a prop bet that used as it's criteria some peer reviewed journal basis for evaluating scientific consensus 10 years from now. Alas, I am impatient.

I could, like you, spend 2 weeks investigating the issue personally but what would be the point? If AGW is real (I believe it is) then we are pretty much screwed as it is politically unviable to deal with the issue. "Enjoy your life today, pity your grand children, buy guns and bullets" is probably the most practical advice.

If you look at AGW from a poker perspective and the best opinion you can find is that AGW is "plausible" then the EV difference of various courses of action (e.g. doing nothing vs spending lots of money to reduce greenhouse gas emissions) is huge. Also, if the current scientific views are more or less correct then if we wait to become scientifically certain before acting we will be pot committed to massive change. Like I said, buy bullets and guns.

How are you certain we are not in store for massive change regardless of what we do?

I dunno. Silver was a professional poker player at one point and quit after UIGEA turned him from a shark into a fish.
