No idea. Everyone I know who wants to work has a job but most people I know don't want to work. Too much fun to be had.

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

One of the many possible side effects of climate change is that the UK will freeze when the North Atlantic conveyor (the Gulfstream) gets turned off. When all the fresh water from the North polar ice caps runs into the sea it'll supposedly cut off the warm water from the Gulf of Mexico that keeps the UK relatively warm during the Winter.
The UK will come to resemble Moscow and Alaska more-so than even Scotland does now.

This is one of the reasons why "Global Warming" is a misnomer. People see Climate Change as sea rises and everywhere getting warmer, which isn't necessarily so.

Of course the flip side to this is that we're actually over-due for an ice-age and "Global Warming" is a good thing as it's fending this off.

Err, no. Afaik the last European ice age was caused exactly by the malfunctioning of the Gulf Stream.

There is a huge thread in politics on climate change if anybody is interested.

News today: A russian economics agency has reported that Hadley CRU (one of the main climate research institutions) cherry picked temperature data from Russia to artificially inflate the global mean temperature.

I've been reading up on AGW since starting to participate in the thread. Prior to studying the issue I was somewhat skeptical. I am now leaning toward believing that the climate guys are knowingly engaging in fraud. There's A LOT of damaging evidence out there that you can find in just a few minutes of google searching.

Nobody knows for sure.

However.

I'd rather err on the side of caution and reduce pollution. If we reduce and we don't need to, no real loss. If we don't reduce and we did need to...

We NEED to reduce pollution as fast as possible, before it's too late. Sweden is working hard, and is way ahead of our "goals" for what we need to be. But what can we do - we're a small country? We can't make much off a change.

It's those god damn fat dumb americans who just pollute their asses off!!! USA alone stands for like 1 third of all pollution in the world. USA didn't even sign the Koyoto goals of reducing pollution and emitions.

I have no idea what to make of it.
I'd guess it's a combination of running good and the fact that when the regs figure out how they should play aginst me, I'm off to the next limit

This. We are already boned as it is.

One thing I don't get is why people think the climate will suddenly be static when it has never been over billions of years. Just because *we* are here to observe it now? Is it because of this? Anyway, don't really want to debate climate change since nobody will convince anybody else of anything and we will waste several pages of interweb, but that is one thing I find really interesting about the psychology of it all.

Imfromsweeden: Wow, nice America hate. Please don't take any medicine developed in the US. Don't use any technology developed/manufactured in the US. Wait, you didn't type that on an Intel/AMD computer did you? Using Windows? I bet it didn't arrive on my screen by passing through a Cisco router. Better not use anything from Japan either since we trade with them a lot. We make them food, and they make you/us DVD players (and better cars ldo). I could go on but I think you get the point.

lol the first sentence was just a joke, I certinly don't hate America Many americans are fat though

But the rest is just stating the facts. USA didn't sign the Koyoto. USA stands for a big % of the worlds pollutions. Those are hard facts.

I get that about playing more hands and I understand the long run, yada, yada from the intellectual viewpoint... But it still feels (emotionally) like theft. Somewhere along the lines of getting your $100 taken from you in a rare circumstance and then thinking if you walk down the roadside long enough you'll pick up a c-note! LOL

As for the rest of the global warming thing, I once learned trying to discuss politics/policies in a poker forum is maddening, ie StoxPoker. But as an aside, I got up to go to the bathroom last night and tripped. when I looked down it was Obama's approval ratings! That's it from me!

Well, it is a fact that the US is a major polluter.

But I go a bit with Equus and say that it is somewhat arrogant to think the human could change a billion years old processes. There were always periods when the weather was more cold or more warm. I will not deny that the human has at least a part guilty for the weather change.

Whether or not global warming exists or is man-made is open to discussion. I do believe however that our current standard of living is unsustainable in the long run (the end of oil reserves, distribution of food and other resources, etc.). The earlier people get used to that idea, the better imo.

I think they're dumb for not reducing their emitions and pollutions more - It's a very real threat to our entire world and we need to change while we still can.

Obviously I wouldn't mind if it got a few degrees warmer here in sweden, but it would have huge consequences to the rest of the world. Desserts would spread out all the way to the france area, the polar ice would melt, and sea level would rise, which would lead to catasrophic consequences. And besides, many scientists say that an increase in temprature would change the Golf Stream, ironiclly making Sweden a lot colder. So yeah, I'm concerned about global warming to say the least.

To me, one -EV BI down, equates to three BI's needed to be earned. Sick way to look at it, eh?
Haven't read the rest of the thread after this so I'm kinda grunching. But I used to think about it in very much the same way. Then somewhere along the way I just became numb.

Someone hits a 2outer on me? Sigh. *shrug* Next hand.

Yeah, I just looked him up. Last night was the only night that he played. It was a mix of 100, 50, and 25NL. Managed to blow $180 in 100 hands.

Probably won't see him again. There are spewtards, but the truly clueless people who go to the river with air are not coming back.
