Kurt you said you could give some "mental coaching".
I really need some these days I totally hit rockbottom when it comes to poker. If you wanna try your talents out one someone, i'd be delighted. I can even give you a small % of my month if I manage to turn things around.

If you're up to this, my aim is the same than my 2+2 handle

LOL. I went on an insane heater when I first deposited $200. I ran it up to $600 because 25NL and 50NL are easy when the deck hits you in the face. Once normalcy returned I ran it down to about $40 and moved down to 10NL then 5NL. BR management says I should have moved to 2NL but I was like "**** this ****, I ain't moving to 2NL unless I bust my entire deposit".

Can't get anything going at the tables, semi-bluff against the nuts, bluff against the nuts, everyone is hitting everything and I'm paying them off every ****ing time.

No more poker for the rest of the week, need to get my head straight.

LOL awesome! Man, that makes me feel like a nit. I started at 2nl and built my way up. I'd shot take with 15 buy ins, but clearly I needed to be mo balla and shot take with 4 or 5.

1k nl here I come!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I was like this too. Not a great heater, but perhaps better than I should. I deposited at the end of February for $20. Quickly made the bonus to go to $40 and did reasonably well. I was just so aimless, though. One day I'd be limit, then another day I was NL. One day I'm a cash grinder. The next, I'm a tourney baller. I got up to like $80 at my peak, but I kept leaking it. I saw Furguson's BRM video and decided that I could play with 5BI instead of 25. I played 10NL and did terribly. Eventually, I was down to $15. I then decided to start from the bottom and work my way back up using Furguson's 25BI rule. It was a great decision. Eventually I got a hold of HEM and then found this site. It took me four months to go from $20 to $15. It took me another four months to go from $15 to $550.

Tables are just meh the hole week. Even at the Happy Hours. At least at the quarters.

I just lost a BI when I was AI on the turn while I was a 96% favorite.

I rly wish I would have this tilt room like they had at 2M2MM....

Yeah, crazy how things are so exponential in teh poker when climbing the steaks. That's why, for everybody playing less than 50 I'd say, don't withdraw unless you really need to. First 1k is seriously the hardest.

Have a roommate?

1. Get piece of paper.
2. Write "Tilt Room" on piece of paper.
3. Hang on door of said roommate.
4. Break roommates %*#$*
5. Profit???

Exactly this. Before the BS hand I was 4 digit the third time within 4 weeks. Maybe I can keep it after this WE.

No, I have no room mate. But cool plan lol.

Yeah, try not to think about it too much. Every time I over think the monetary aspect my game gets worse. Trying to hit a milestone (1k etc), imagining what I'm going to use the money for or setting monetary goals - all bad for thinking in terms of poker chips imo.

More and more the cashier is becoming an abstract number on the screen, but it will be a while before it really lacks meaning like I want. Eventually I want the casher to mean very little until the numbers appear on a check outside of the poker site. Then it can become real again.
12-03-2009 , 06:34 PM
lol I did, in fact, bust my first $100 deposit.

I've also "started over" from $600 on 3 occasions now (due to withdrawals).

I withdrew $100 just to see if it would work. Seems to be ok, so now I'm left with $450 in my account. I'm moving up when I hit $500. But the plan is to get to $1000 before I come up with some plan for withdrawing.

Great start after a crappy November despite getting my AA cracked by KK yet again.

When I played 25NL and 50NL it was not because I was taking a shot -- I simply had no concept of what bankroll management was. After I got the **** kicked out of me I started reading the beginner forum stickies and came across the BR management rule of thumb "have at least 20 BI for NLHE" and have stuck with that ever since. Even when my online BR was $40 and I played 5NL, my poker bankroll had things covered.

"Heater": A myth which means you will run over EV at the poker tables or getting dealt a lot of goods hands in a short which holds up until the river is dealt.

Anyway seems like a urban myth to me

Yeah, good plan. Once you get to 50, then I think becoming nittier with BR management is good, but kinda unnecessary below that. So much easier to handle variance with some padding (at least for me).

I had planned to spend some of my monies, but now I'm super worried about getting laid off next year, so I'm just gonna see how much I can grind up and try to get to 200 so I can survive if I get axed.

Haha, yeah, wasn't trying to imply that you are not following BRM now.

That is one of the best "heaters" I've seen. I read it's now called a "Jason".

Unfortunately it's also the only form of "heater" I've ever experienced (in near 500K hands).

I was furloughed from the railroad a month ago and am looking to do the same thing and move up as quick as possible to 100NL and possibly 200NL to supplement a weak economy. Back to basic ABC play and no more attempts to LAG it up. I have 30 BI's readily available and will go to 100NL ASAP with RB helping out.

Dats da plan anyhoo....

GL. I'm trying to do the same. I'm a big winner at NL25 playing LAG. Now I'm trying to ABC it up at NL50/NL100. Seems to have worked for a few others that hang out here.

I think I've busted a few deposits. A couple on Pokerroom back in college, one on Gutshot poker because I could deposit from a Casino in Ireland. I don't think it was called Gutshot, then. My last deposit was February, 2007. Kept it going since then and even withdrew a couple times, which keeps me from moving up too far.

Haha, yeah. I have only told a few people IRL about that plan, because it sounds soooo degen to normal people lol.

I wouldn't encourage anybody to go pro for 50k a year really with no larger plan. But I'm working on growing a business and would direct more energy to that stuff, so poker wouldn't be the end game really. More like, I don't think I will be able to find a job anyway, so I might as well grind...

You weren't in the US were you? I can't remember. So is it a true furlough? They are going to call you back at some undetermined point in the future?
