Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

Been playing some of the worst poker of my life the last 2 sessions, only down 2.5 BI but am just making awful decisions. I think I'm sick, and that's probably why...but i've got this need to get 200 points a day, Iron man is kinda silly. It's worth so little to me, yet compels me to play so strongly!

Yeah, last session was good for me. The few before that I was a total dip&#(. So weird how you can basically become a ****** for a few sessions. Happen to anyone else?

Ironman has never motivated me for some reason. I think it just really tilts me that I don't hit it due to having to play a certain number of days, yet my total points are high.

I seen a couple posts saying Full Tilt is about to do something about all the short stacking.

Can anyone elaborate on this?

FTP Doug announced in the most recent Answers thread:

Quote:
1. what about the shortstacking?

- We've done a lot of analysis, held a bunch of meetings, and a decision has been made. I can say we are going to do something. I can't say what that something is just yet, but it's planned to happen before the end of the year.
There's no other information as to what they will do or when they will announce it.

i'm not usually one to complain about short stackers but it really is getting kind of sick. i started a table the other day while playing 3 or 4 other tables, at first it was pretty good, me and a couple of half stackers playing three handed, hands come up at other tables, by the time i get back to the table i just started literally EVERY other seat had 20bb. i just about threw up.

They really just need to make ALL tables have a min buy in of 50BB and max 200BB. You can't afford a 50BB buy in? Boo hoo play lower stakes. I'm seriously sick of having to table select mainly on stack size.

If it hasn't changed by the time the year end bonus starts it will only get worse.

Anyway I am not sue what disgusted me more: the fact he is set mining for 30bb or that he get rewared for his ******ed play since I was not able to hit one of my 15 outs

But is doesnt really matter how much favorite I was on turn and river since I put all my money at the flop in when it was ittle better then a flip

On the river your not a fav anymore, no more cards to come

On the flop you have like 52% equity on the turn it's something like ~30%

Yeah, hands like that are just one of the many mind $*#$*( of poker. You are going to lose that a ton. And more importantly you are going to feel like you lose it more than you actually do.

But jamming stacks (whatever the size) with more than 50% equity on the flop with dead money = sexy all day.

Haha, yeah, guess it happens. Finally booked two sessions where I remembered how to play. Last night I made other people spew instead of the other way around. Felt incredible haha.

Yea. I mean when when he would have AA or KK so let it be. But not that freaking line with 77.

Pretty sure he is serious unless I am misunderstanding your question.

Getting better than 1 to 1, which will always be the case when you jam into a pot that has dead money, when you are better than a 1 to 1 fav, which is the case with equity > 50%.

Cool. Yea I thought so that he is srsly but sometimes i still see the language barrier

And again I learned something new here. Was a bit unsure if I played the hand right but I thought it can not be that bad when I get the money in as long as it is a flip (or a bit better then taht)

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

Yeah, totally serious.

Yeah, it sucks to loose to 77, but you just have to get used to flipping with dead money.

It's just simple expected value stuff, but sometimes it's easier to think about in terms of actually flipping coins haha:

If you have more than 50% equity on the flop of course you want to get it in because you make money on average for every dollar that goes in the pot. When you have right around 50% (or even less), then you have to think about how much dead money there is. You want to flip when there is a lot of dead money flying around.

Look at it this way, if we each put a dollar into a prize pool, flip a coin, and you win whenever you get heads, we never get anywhere right? We just keep trading dollars back and forth, but over a large sample, nobody comes out ahead. Now imagine if there is already $1 in the prize pool (dead money), and now we each put in a dollar. So now, when the coin comes up tails (50% of the time) you lose a dollar. When it comes up heads, you win two dollars. How often do you want to play that game? As much as possible right?

Yet you still "lose" half of the time, so psychologically it still feels a little bit bad.

So anyway, be very happy villain played it the way he did, even though you lost.
