LOL, so many times I'm shutting down and JJ+ or AK comes and I end up losing a stack and finishing down. God I hate that but I have also been compulsive about finishing my "free hands". Perhaps I should consider quitting immediately though.

I should do that. A week ago I was so life tilted after I grinded 4 hours till rostucko to be up half a buy in, and then lost KK < AA and JT < QQ on a JT2 board, both vs fishes, while I was just waiting for the blinds to come around on the last three tables. Just not worth it, lol.

As springsteen said, the $2 in EV just aren't worth the potential pain you'll feel when it goes wrong and turns your sesh into crap (again)

On Friday it seems like I could end November with a small win. Now it seems like I have my third losing month in a row.

GG me.

I think I'm going to have my first losing month. I can overcome bad play, I can overcome running bad, but overcoming both is tough for me and I've been playing terrible.

For me November is a sick mix of running against the top of ranges and stacking off in marginal spots. I am not always sure what is what.

But I know that when December is like this I should see for another passion in 2010.

I'm definitely sticking to 4 tables until TableNinja-FT gets more features. I just can not fold the 3rd nuts against 50+/30+ 2NL villains when I play 8 tables and the UI is tilting me and lord knows they have the nutz every ****ing time.

This is so not true. You shouldn't bluff an calling station, somebody who you know from that he/she is willing to call for 3 streets with second pair bad kicker

Even a regular with solid stats can be an calling station, and a "fish" (hate that term, they are just players as similar as I am, I just happen to know a bit more about the game then they) can be a player who just like to fold every time they don't flop the nuts, or hit the nuts on the turn,
or call for 1 street because they have second pair, but will fold to a second barrel,
or their range includes enough draws on the flop that now missed on the river so you still take it down

All kind of scenarios where you can bluff, and it's highly situational and player depended.. saying "you shouldn't try and bluff fish" really isn't the right way to look at it

It's also depended on what you call 'a bluff', because technically a c-bet is a bluff and you happen to do that a lot.
Most of the times it might not be the best idea to represent a super strong hand, but even that isn't really accurate imho.
What you should NOT do at the lower stakes is trying to take somebody of a range that is STRONG.

Well, when I call someone a fish, I just mean a bad poker player. I'm sure a lot of these people are wonderful human beings. I have fish tendencies myself.

But recently I tried to bluff someone off a small pocket pair with a hand I raised from EP with (AK that didn't hit). He just wouldn't fold it.

But I wasn't really trying to provide instruction. It was more for a vent. But when I play badly, I eventually blame myself. Not the fish for refusing to fold his SPP. I'm supposed to be the better poker player. I should be making the adjustment, not him.

And yeah, it's also a narrow definition of fish. I meant stations. You also have nitfish and spewfish.

Normally I can play correctly against these guys, but for some reason, I just lose my head from time to time. It's not tilt in the emotional sense. I really don't know what it is.

I don't think it's ego. I think it's that I spend so much time playing against nits that I have trouble adjusting to calling stations.

I try to do the best I can. It's a tradeoff between playing with nits and with six short stackers. I do pretty well against the nits, actually.

But perhaps I should spend more time playing with the loose shorties so I can learn to play against this type of player? I can't believe I'm so bad against the spewy players.

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

Well,
table selection is multi way imo
You can table select and spot the easy tables and move up pretty quickly, but without playing against better opponents you will not improve that much,
and with that you instantly see the reason why people have such a hard time playing at a higher level once they moved up.
They are used to all the easy spots and now they have a a hard time at the new level because there are more better players

My suggestion would be, if you have a hard time playing against a type of opponent, spot them and play against them instead avoiding them by table selecting awesomely
Doesnt mean you have to do this every time you play though

My biggest frustration about not being able to move up was never because of the money, it was because I always wanted to play against better opponents. The money doesn't do it for me @ poker, it's the challenge in skill for me

What about the UI tilts you? They've actually got the software (back) to a decent place right now. Maybe it can be fixed...

Also, I don't know what you're playing, but FTP is not the place to play 2nl or 5nl. Probably not 10nl either. The rake is to rediculous, and the deep-stacked tables on stars are much better. I usually suggest people play 2nl-10nl at stars, then move to FTP for 25nl.

The rake at 10NL is 6.6% of the pot with a cap of $2. (Obviously significantly higher if you calculate it as a percentage of your profit in a won pot) What is it at PS?

AFAIK, 5% with a cap of $3, like at the other stakes. However it's hard to hit a $40 pot at NL10, so the difference in the cap is insignificant.
