Ok, thanks. I didn't think I could fold here. Guy had one of the few hands which made sense without containing a 5.

Canga, what are you betting for on the river? What hands will villain call with that you beat?

Since the draw missed I'd rather c/c and let him bluff his missed draws. I can see betting the turn for value against FD/77/99/etc... but I don't see any value on the river.

Wow, I just assumed you all played more volume than I do because you post and I lurk.

I've been targetting the Year end bonus since July...I'm Iron for 7 consec. months as of 5 days from now and anticipate a nice $600 bonus for Jan.

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

Layed a bit of "mpethy" on a 2p2 reg this afternoon.

Booked myself a winning sesh so taking the rest of the day off to bask and feel good about myself. (That and we're out of TP, so a trip to the store is in order... quick.)

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.50(BB) Replayer
SB ($28.50)
BB ($55.30)
UTG ($53)
UTG+1 ($42.35)
UTG+2 ($110)
MP1 ($50.75)
Hero ($50)
BTN ($56.75)

Dealt to Hero 9 9
fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $1.50, BTN raises to $5.25, fold, fold, Hero calls $3.75

FLOP ($11.25) 4 8 4
Hero checks, BTN bets $6, Hero raises to $44.75 (AI), BTN folds

Hero shows 9 9 (yeah I know it's an OP and happened to work out. He'd been 3b'ing pretty aggressively so I was going to make a stand on any non-Ace flop)

Hero wins $22.10

I would say, yeah, that is standard, provided any draws missed and my hand was pretty decent--say, at worst an underpair to one card on the flop. If your hand is worse than that, calling is not standard, but highly dependent on the villain.

You generally shouldn't check/call and hand that you were prepared to check river with in the first place. DUCY?

Yeah, I'm serious.

And i did say GENERALLY because you might want to check/call if ALL draws missed or if he's very aggro on the river. And to balance your checking range on the river, but people don't notice so w/e.

so we are talking about the same thing. To me, the situations you describe are the general rule, not the exceptions. But we agree on when to c/c.

edit to add: in a universe where aggression factors are >2, by definition, most everybody's betting range is wider than their calling range. This is why i think that c/c ias you describe s the general rule, rather than the exception.

Having nightmares about logic questions:

[ ] Always
[x] Sometimes
[ ] Never

Always guess "sometimes" in poker lol.

Well, the exceptions I noted are very few and far apart so in general you don't want to c/c river. But yeah, guess we're basiclly talking 'bout the same thing. I maybe check/call river once in like 3-4k hands or something.
