Yes, it's a big reason why I don't really talk in the SSNL regs thread/chat thread. Half of it is e-peenery and I just don't care to criticize others play.

88 has much better showdown value than something like 22-66. We want to be 3b 22-66 because of this, and preserving the showdown value of 88 by playing poker with it (especially if we're IP)

Hell, at the very least, you can get a cbet out of it. One of my new favorite plays is when I am on the button and I steal followed by a 3bet in the blinds, I'll often call knowing that a cbet will follow and then raise the opponent out of the hand.

Someone please direct me to what the heck you guys are talking about. 3betting 88 is bad, 3betting 22-66 is even worse. Since this is the non e-peen waving thread I wont go into detail about why, but I assure you that 3betting with a mid/small PP is horrible.

I'm confused, hear so many different opinions on this

But it has to be player dependent, right?

Like we might fold 22-66 against a good reg which isn't going to spew of a stack with TP/OP and flat against someone who might just do that?

77-JJ we're not folding, but flatting or 3betting?

QQ+ we 3bet most of the time, but may flat against someone who steals alot?

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

Im going to guess your talking about defending your blinds with pocket pairs? Againt a looser reg I would be folding 22-66 OOP to them as there range will be so wide that your not going to get paid off when you do hit a set often enough and when you dont hit a set there going to have position on you and make it tough for you to call down three streets with third pair. Against a nit I would call and set mine because there going to have more TP/A high/Pairs/Sets type hands in their range that are going to pay you off if you do hit a set or happen to over set them.

With 77-TT I would flat a lot OOP and "play poker". I would do this against both player. I would on start 3betting with these hands if I thought he was 4bet bluffing alot or would stack off with worse. This would not be a standard though and would require some type of previous history.

With JJ-AA, Its player dependent, flat sometimes and 3bet sometimes

Speaking of PP and 3betting. Do you guys ever setmine a 3bet if ESS are like 200bb? A typical 3bet is still in the 1/20 ESS area.

In a vacuum no....

Would probably need an example to give a correct answer though. Also, remember that just because you call a 3bet with a PP it doesnt mean you are set mining.

I've always thought that if you are getting >15:1 implied then it is okay to setmine...

I'm assuming you are talking about raise/call (closing the action) and not cold-calling a 3!.

Im more likely to set mine in a 3bet pot 200BB deep if it is against someone with a 2% 3bet then against someone with a 6% 3bet. Im also probably only doing that IP.

Jason, what about SB vs. BB, where you are in the BB and will have position? When it's folded to the SB and he attempts to steal, what is your default with 22-88?

Yeah I was talking about defending blinds with small PP. Against the standard NL100 TAG who ATS 35-45% and folds to 3b 80-85% I don't see a problem with 3b 22-66, gotta balance your range somehow :-\

If you're willing, would you PM me with the short version of why this is bad.
