Could you please (or anyone) explain the effect withdrawing has on rakeback?

When you withdraw, FTP charges an amount against your MGR. This amount varies for different withdrawal methods and at different times, but FTP will not tell you what the exact amount is until after the fact.

Its usually not much. But its the first thing I thought of when explaining small MGR<->rakeback differences.

Alright, I'd heard that wires are like a $50 hit against your MGR, I didn't know if you meant the actual withdrawl amount had an effect or not...TY

thats why i transfer to stars whenever i withdraw
stars does instant withdraws to my neteller account while ftp takes like 3 days and takes a fee on the conversion of $ to euro + the mgr hit i think

I didn't know about the MGR hit either but I've been transferring to stars to withdraw as well because I get more Canadian $$$ in my account from PS compared to FT.

i find they attract fish more than regular deep tables do
this statement is a bit counterintuitive to me... i'd love to see some folks with a lot of volume post up some winrate deltas (don't have to post actual winrates) and see if there's any data to support all of our various intuitions about which tables play the softest, etc...

just order a security token for the phone and physical...I will let you know how it goes.
11-13-2009 , 05:15 PM
I ordered a security token yesterday. 5000 FTPs, what an effing bargain for the peace of mind of never worrying about my account getting hacked. I have had an amount in there for the last few months that I consider "real money," so this is going to make me feel so much better going forward.

Yeah i did do a small withdrawal back to my neteller account ... I think its scandalous that you get a MGR hit just for withdrawing ..

I dont know anywhere else that does such a thing ...

Whilst my bankroll is so low, i might as well milk the good deals on ipoker to build back up quicker ..

I do like FTP .. been impressed with the software etc .. but as im cutting down tables anyway and concentrating on getting better .. my computer should be able to handle the crappy ipoker software better .

So the "wait a week or two to see if it's broken" period is over?

If so I'll ship mine when i get home
11-13-2009 , 05:25 PM
I'll order one for sure once I get back to "real money" in the account.

yeah, I ended up using medals to get mine. Since you can have up to 6 active devices. I figure I keep my physical one next to my computer and then use the phone one for backup/travel.

not a set in 800 hands, obv everyone else is hitting them when I hit TPTK and turn 2-pair on the ****ing turn.

Edit: think I made a few extra $ thanks to Joops CoTW thread though, was cool to see it work.

Trip Report on Security Token:

So I purchased both a physical token and one for my phone (iPhone). The request for the iPhone one took about 3 hours to fill. Once i got the email, I was able to download the application, register it with FTP and go through the application procedures, takes about 15 minutes. Once registered I managed my "secret questions" as these are used in case you are locked out. Since I had additional security, I needed to add the single use password (SUP) to make changes to my account.
One thing to note is that the SUP is generated every 30 seconds, and as the name suggests if you use it on one screen, you will need to exit the iPhone app screen and regenerate another SUP.

tested it about 15 times, seems to work so far..
11-13-2009 , 06:27 PM
Should have just raised it two or three cents. Ten cents just folds out worse hands.
11-13-2009 , 07:03 PM
Have had the RSA token for about 6 weeks now and can confirm it's simple to use. Got this immediately after Smeets account was hacked.

Well worth the price, as mp stated "for ease of mind" at the very least. I think it costs about $20 at the supernova conversion rate.

If any of you are putting in significant amount of time playing poker, and have more than ~$500 in your account I'd highly recommend you get it. Account hacks DO happen.

You're in the Full Tilt thread in case you weren't aware
11-13-2009 , 09:14 PM
I'm a little confused. If we want the iphone app, do we need to buy the other thing? Or can we just buy the app?
