It's all nl50 except for the last 2k hands or so which is 100nl. Hopefully I didn't use all of my rungood at 50nl...
11-11-2009 , 04:31 PM
So is this Iron Man thingie actually worth anything? Anything a recent Stars convert should know about?
11-11-2009 , 04:35 PM
I would also like to know, I keep telling myself it's like 1-3% rakeback depending on your level, so it's essentially not worth sweating over.

FWIW it seems to only take like 500 hands of NL100 daily to make iron man.
11-11-2009 , 04:37 PM
At NL25 it's 1500 apparently.

Depending on how the tables are you could although make it in just 1k hands. But 1.5k is like in my experience, too.

November is sweet so far

Last month at 25NL for me I guess, just want to do about 9k hands more (so I have 50k total on 25NL) and then... 50NL, here I come

These graphs make my grinding for 4-5bb/100 hands seems like a total failure ..

I will never be happy unless im running at 10bb minimum now !!

edit:

any UK coach want to take me under their wing .. and nurture me into something special ?

once we start posting/thinking like this:

regarding this hand I dont think u can fold here even if I think its a good chance your beat really depends on how you think villain veiws you if he thinks he can get you off this type of hand/aa/kk/aq here and you think he thinks that then u cant fold here imo but if not sick fold....personally id just chalk it up to cooler vs even most of the nits at 100
we shall enter the kingdom.

get me to the higher stakes and i'll hire a PA to proofread.... and CAPITALIZE!!! LOL

I don't think I can ever remember the tables being as fishy as they were tonight. Sitting at deep tables with 83/12, 42/11 and 33/0 is pretty much unheard of these days.

Unfortunately

You can buy $ bonuses with medals and you get mid/end year bonus depending on how many months you have qualified.

Got slowplayed by a SS with AA, lol

So I'm guessing the rest of you have graduated from trying to get the one-a-day freerolls?
11-11-2009 , 06:34 PM
I think the Iron man is worth more than 1-3% RB, as that is the RB equivalent if you bought cash bonuses, add in the two yearly bonuses and it can add a few more % points.

I try for it, but I'm usually too busy to do the tournament, so I just take the measly amount of medals because MTT's are a scheduling pain in the ass. I've been trying for iron every month, so it just means i take a few minutes out of my day to get a few points on the days I don't have time/feel like full sessions.

When I first learned about it, I used to try and do it, but now I don't care anymore about making the 1-a-day. Mainly because the payouts are so small. Yeah, if I were to win, it would be worth it, but the lowest cash is like $3. It would definitely be more profitable for me to play cash.

Besides, my roll is big enough that I've got myriads of tournaments I can play for real cheap now if I get the itch.

haha, its players like me that give donkaments their namesake.

I think the last time I played a MTT, I was knocked out when my pocket Ks failed to hold up to villains K3.

actually i was just about to ask the same question (except in reverse) since I recently found out from FTP that i signed up through some affiliate and hence have no chance at getting rakeback. this coming month will be my 6th consecutive month in iron man, mid year bonus is nice and i should also start getting a decent amount of medals/month but i'm wondering if poker star's VPP for cash would be a better deal.

edit: oh yeah, and also i really can't comment on the free rolls since this is the first month i'll be participating in those but it seems like they should be pretty +EV, for the silver one this month there are like 950 entrants and about 360 or so places paid. min cash is like $20, min FT is a couple hundred (i think) and like $1.7k for the winner.

A couple pages back I posted a graph that looked exactly like the one you just posted, and yeah of course it totally sucked being 4.5BI below EV in the middle of a session. But I couldn't think of a single good reason to dwell on it. So I didn't.
Can you teach me?
