Been sick and grumpy for a few days and lost my edge....sorry r2w.

Had a client today want a detailed quotation for a new part. Simple little aluminum bracket with a tricky bend to it....but entirely doable. New account and a new buyer is my guess.

She wanted a price breakdown for 1 to 10,000 pieces order.

KS: What are your likely order quantities.
Moron: Depends on your costs

KS: {{WTF}}} Uhhh, well what if I quote 1,25,100,500,1000, 10,000.
Moron: We will probably order 2 at the start. Can you quote 2.

KS: I can actually quote you ANY quantity you would like. We are a custom manufacturer. We do prototyping as well as runs in the tens of thousands. So it would be helpful if I had an idea where to start my quotation for you.
Moron: Well, whereever you have a price break.

KS: Well up to maybe 20 or 25, each will have a different price. After that, maybe in increments of 5 until you reach 100 parts. After that 10 to 25 price breaks is about standard.
Moron: OK, that'll be fine.

KS: What would be fine?
Moron: Can you quote all those price breaks you listed?

KS: I could, but.....er.... that's seems like a bit of overkill don't you think.
Moron: We're not sure how many we will be ordering. Engineering asked me to get an idea about cost on this bracket.

KS: Would you ask Engineering how many they think they will need please.
Moron: Sure.... hold on

{{{she comes back on the line in about two minutes, but before she returns, I'm scrolling around 2+2}}}

Moron: They said they probably will need about 5 parts over the next year or so.

{{{ This is the point where I run into r2w asking if he should fold kings}}}

KS: I'll make all 5 for $30.00 per piece
Moron: What if I only want 1?

KS: That would be $800.00 for the one.
Moron: OK.

King,

Wet behind the ears when I first sat at a purchasing desk, someone from the line showed up, "We're out of this label!"

OK. I call the supplier, get the details, ready to go....

"Alright, do you have a purchase order number?"

Me: "What's a purchase order?"

True story.

Aren't there just days where you'd like to look at the upper right corner of your Life window and just 'X' the f*ck outta there!!!! I mean, you can 'X' out of a bad poker session when you want to, right???

You'll never go robusto with that attitude.

Tomorrow will be telling when I raise her on the telly to see where I'm at.

Iffen she orders one.......

Well, contrary to what many think of business owners, I wouldn't take the order for $800. I would call The Man and recall my experience and suggest a tad bit more training..... I think I earn a bit of Shania doing dat.

Nice to see you around entertainme.... you playing much lately?

true story Kurt.

Not the first time for me yankin' the chain back
11-05-2009 , 08:41 PM
Weehaa... Rolled for 50NL again, which was my goal for this month Think I'll buy myself something pretty in the form of this one:

Hopefully gonna give 50NL a shot again soon, please to have mercy on my roll
11-05-2009 , 08:43 PM
While I'm on a roll.......

A FREQUENT King Spew moment is when a client has just received a bid from me and asks me if I can reduce the cost somehow. I will absolutely do this, so no problem. {{I mean this truthfully, no malice as it IS possible I may have missed something at first blush}}

So I go back to my little shoebox in the corner and recalculate and try to figure if a tooling purchase would reduce X process. Then more than likely, I get back to the account that no, the original pricing of $1000 is still good.

At this point, old established accounts are good to go, but the noobs,,,,well, sometimes they DEMAND a better price. I will pause (like I've got the nuts on the river) and say "Sure, I'll get right on it".

Here's the fun part:

"Mr. Hellmuth, I am SOOOOOO glad you asked me to requote. After looking at it again, I found two issues that I had overlooked the previous two times. I am so glad you let me rerequote this. The new price is $1285.00. Thanks again. Can I get a purchase order for this now?"

Sucks, I have only played like 300 hands this month and am still stuck 3 cents. Damn work. I wonder if I can get away with playing while on the university internet. I'm just too tired when I get home.

Oh and

After the hand he said "$70 in 5 minutes aghahaha easy"

So I was like "Yeah well you're a long term loser, so enjoy it while it lasts" (-EV, tiltaments)

And then he says

"Well"
"what if I leave"
"RIGHT NOW"

and gets off.

Good going me, amirite?

what limit is that ?
its probably 50 but i mean how do u not have bigger swings in 100k hands ? the spikes are so small...

ive swung up to +500 and down to +150 in my first 2k hands of the month
do u play an uber low variance style ? ie. mega nit ?

^^^^^^^^^^^

LOL. One tip. Don't say anything remotely resembling strat, like "pair" or "kicker." Just stick to saying things like, "Why are you calling me an idiot, I'm just trying to have a good time and gamble!" Or more subtly "I had AK and you had Ax, I don't know why you won the pot?!? WTF?"

Leveling fish is much more satisfying.

Edit: If they are uber recreational player and chatting a lot and say something to me, I usually engage in some friendly convo if I'm not playing too many tables. +EV except a couple sessions ago I sat down with one of my buddies and he said "Hey xxxx!! Go easy on us tonight OK!" Started feeling slightly guilty about bum hunting lol.
