According to some people 65s is better than KQs. I guess I missed the memo.

Yeah this makes a ton of sense...... By my reading, you don't want to play so called "marginal hands", which KQs is not, against bad players, but you would be inclined to play it against better players.

Sounds like a real winning strategy......

BTW this is why people fail miserably when they move up stakes. They try to make changes to their game against better players without knowing what they are doing.

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

Out of curiousity, I checked my DB.

KQ from UTG at 9handed tables over 250k hands at Full Tilt.
Limits NL10->NL100.

Occurred 140 times.

VPIP 75%, PFR 75%.

WR 0.79 BB/hand.

Seems good to me.

i'm sure i sometimes fold and sometimes raise with that hand in the one hole.

but anything that helps me open up my game a little bit is helpful.

I don't want people to think that I'm telling them to open up your game by playing more hands from EP. Trust me this is not a smart thing to do and I have a fairly tight EP range even though I run on the looser side of TAG. The point is that KQs is a hand that has a lot of value in NL hold 'em because it make a lot of big hands that can win stacks. And after all, winning stacks is what NL is all about and if you disagree then go play limit.......

Listen, i was kidding about the marginal players

Anyways, my post flop skills are awful and this is why i tend to avoid marginal hands. ABC works out for now, maybe when i move on to higher limits i will have to open up my range but for now what works, does work. Not going to change my game right now. I am a NIT and its nice to be a nit at micros.

this is a sick play from the one hole and not for the weak of heart player... def a 3rd level move here.

no, i understand that. i should have prefaced it by explaining how naturally nitty i am. almost obsessively so from up front. so i'm not going to go nuts in EP.

but yes i understand your larger point about certain hands having value. and me sometimes playing too tight pre, i give up some value which hurts my win rate.

and i like the free advice from peeps beating bigger games (i play 25nl and 50nl)
