When I get my BR up to $2k or so, I may take a couple of BIs for entertainment value and go bum hunting $200nl. But I won't do it on Full Tilt. Bodog and/or AP seem like better options.

EDIT: Top 'o da page!!

1. were you beating 50nl?
2. why is 100nl pointless?
3. 5k is not enough to play 200nl

25nl<<<<50nl<<<100nl<<<<<<<<200nl

skipping 100nl is a terrible idea imo esp not being rolled

Pardon me for answering for nino, but yes, he was beating 50 and yes, $5k is enough to play 200nl, particularly as a "shot" as he describes it.

Not sure why you would want to skip 100NL, but I would think that $5k is enough to play 200NL. 25 100BB buyins. How much more do you need?

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

there is a good thread somewhere around here that sums it up pretty good.

something like this:

<10 buy ins = fish
10 buy ins = recreational player
25 buy ins = hobby
50 buy ins = serious player
100 buy ins = pro

i dont get taking a "shot" at 200nl with a 5k roll when you havent played 100nl yet just my opinion tho

He's not taking a shot with a $5k roll, he's taking $5k of his roll for a shot.

It's a shot, not like he is going to spew $5k.

And it's not like he is a total noob either.

I think he'll do fine btw, glgl.

I agree. I've always imagined the fish having one or two buyins online. Not anywhere close to 10 unless they are on a heater or something.

I like these guys. They would rather fold than call a 10% of the pot bet for their remaining stack.

Most short stackers play this way. I get a good deal of pleasure in knocking them out. I know this isn't a tournament and KOs mean nothing, but it's still nice.

way to nitty at least for the micros IMO. Sure if you move up you should have more and more BI because the swings are greater but even at NL200 a 100BI (i.e. 20k) is a must have BR IMO.

Are you sure this is for cash games? It seems too nitty for them but also on the edge of recklessly loose for high stakes tournaments. Mid-low stakes tournaments, that looks like good bankroll management.

From what Ive seen this is pretty much standard. I would say atleast 50 BIs if it is your only source of income. I personally an running 20 BIs below EV this month and around a 20-25 BI downer. This also depends on personal preference and style. Obv. a person playing a 9/6/2 will need less than a 20/16/8 since variance is much higher.

BTW i wasnt attacking OP or anything I just thought it was weird he skipped 100nl and went straight to 200nl with only 5k. But if it is 5k out of a roll then thats different. I thought his whole roll was 5k which is low imo for 200nl

I am 100% positive I will be taking shots at 200nl when my entire BR is $5k, if not before then. I will be glad to take a 5BI downswong before dropping. That's what taking shots is all about.

Stop-loss measures, FTW.

I agree, and to each his own. I've just never understood the uber-nit BR mindset at the micros. The goal is to move up where you can make some real money. Once you're at your permanent stake, a tighter BR management mindset is justified, IMO.

EDIT: And I do think you need a bigger BR if you're a mass multi-tabler, but that's just to keep your sessions in action. 40-50 would be good if you 24-table. I only 8-table, so 25 BI is plenty.

LOL. Look at his poasts.

There is a reason why just about all garfs that have a red line like that have a BE or down blue line.

I read the thread, and the assumptions behind 100 BI are that you will not move down and are 24 tabling, more or less and are playing professionally.

If I were 24 tabling, I would definitely want to have substantially more than 50; probably I would feel ok with 70-75 BIs.

I don't know about these guys assuming they will never move down. I can see their point, but I ALWAYS move down when I am having a big DS, on the theory that my game MUST be suffering from the run bad. Under those circumstances, I wouldn't need anything like 100 (although I do, in fact, have 100 BIs for $100 online atm--but that is just pushing me to get to $200 as fast as possible).

I'm thinking about writing a Pooh-baah on that subject

I haven't really decided anything yet though, guess it has to be about something that's very specific to me; Playing LAG, redline, spewing etc.

Suggestions would be really appriciated!
