El Nino,

Were you talking to me at the tables when you said that a 2p2er was missing value by not cbetting that flop? I seen it in the chat after you left the table and didn't know what hand you were referencing.

Also I saw a 2+2'er ranting and raving about all the fish at the table which is hugely -ev. Scared off some fish at my table and I was wicked pissed. Please stop berating/coaching the fish!

don't really know a bunch of 2p2'ers at 25NL, but yes, this is an issue...

there is nothing better than watching a berating go down 'cuz a deep stacked (lucky fish) 2 outered a 9/6 nut peddler with a "poker coach degree" from DeVry Institute, then take his 315BB's and leave the table with the nut peddler chatting it up to the rest of us: can u believe that donkey called that shove???... /sarcasm

The only "coaching" I ever see at 25NL is fish berating fish.

It was at 50nl and I some how with held the urge the tell him to STFU even though it might have been +ev at the rate he was going. I should call him out but I will hold off.

Yeah you played a hand against me where you missed two streets of value. You didnt cbet the flop and then you checked behind on the river in a spot where you had to have the best hand based on how i played it. That said it was in the middle of a bs session and i shouldnt be berating anyone, least of all you so sorry about that.

#1Thunder, I am not sure that the difference between FT and Stars would justify giving up RB. I didn't move for that reason.

If you can hit platinum every month, then, yeah, maybe moving would be better. I don't know. I would need there to be maybe .5ptbb/100 difference in my win rates for me to even think about it in any detail; otherwise I would just stick with my RB.

_____________________________________

Ha, that said, I came this l l close to leaving FT today. I basically took this month off; I played <10,000 hands in 11 days. So I had to buy some 200 point days to keep my Iron Man status. I went to the Iron Man store and had all sorts of problems. I kept trying to buy days and it kept telling me, "sorry, this page is unavailable," at different points in the process. A few times it let me pick my day and click "purchase," then it would give me an error message. After e-mailing support threatening to move to Stars if they didn't make sure I got credited with an Iron month, I checked my status page and it showed that the times I had clicked "purchase," and gotten the error message, my purchases had actually gone through. So after much hair pulling, and gnashing of teeth, I got my iron month. But I was seriously ready to move to stars if they ****ed me over on this.

Interested in thoughts on Iron Man as a bonus program.

I was iron like over a year straight, then during my downswing intentionally missed a month because i thought having my playing times/volume dictated by FTP marketing department was -EV, and more importantly, -lifeEV. "Sorry, can't go to a movie with you guys, I've got to get one more day for Iron Man."

The payoff through ironman is slim - its dwarfed by rakeback - but it does do its job and keep me playing regularly, which is probably a good thing for my game.

*shrug* Thoughts?

Now I'm kinda kicking myself for missing the increased rate of medal accrual with long term ironman. But I dunno.

i don't do the ironman promo chiefly because of what you say, "having my playing times/volume dictated by FTP marketing department"... i have a hard time with authority and others telling me what i should or should not be doing. i like to play when i want to play and probably play more hands monthly than many of the "ironman participants" do on a monthly basis... some days i'll multi-table for 8-10 hours, other days i just can't or don't want to play (-EV?)... just like around the house, i don't want to have to do house projects every day like my wife would like for me to do, but i will get a chitload of them done a few times a month and all is good!

overall, i detest the way the ironman program is run.

Meh, it's alright. IIRC, Ironman is worth somewhere between 2 and 5% RB depending on how you run it. Every little bit counts, right?

I've found that January and July are insanity filled, as I attempt to clear the bonus in as little time as possible, leading to unnecessary degeneracy by yours truly.

Balancing poker with the rest of my life has me going for bronze or silver each month, never more.

I use my medals for $26 tokens, which allow me the opportunity to freeroll for some extra cash.

This was my exact thoughts on it. Looks like to make up the difference from being Gold you would need around .5bb/100 better on your WR to make up for the lower RB%. It would also require more commitment to stay on track every month to make sure you make at least gold+ every month. Platinum would be ideal but slightly harder for me unless I move up to 100nl.
I am guessing you did not see the difference in competition between the 2 sites being greater than .5ptbb/100?

one of the advantages to playing NL100, it takes about 40 minutes to get 200 FTP points/ironman points.

I think I'll begin taking shots at 200NL now

I've played almost 30k hands (wow!) at 100NL and my EV winrate is 3 BB/100. What's more is; Now I feel I crush my opponents (I've gotten better and better at handreading, which improves my entire game ALOT), while in the begininning I felt like the fish. When I started playing 100NL I was playing a 19/15 style. Now i'm playing 22/20, have a positive red line and is secure in my game.

Wish me luck!

It is close to being .5ptbb/100, but I am heavily invested in Iron Man. If I stay at $100 on FT, I plan to get back to playing a fair amount on Stars. But:

I am in my 24th month of Iron Man, so I am getting medals up the wazoo; I should be able to make an extra $600/6 months by buying the bonuses at 3000 medals each.

However:

This is absolutely correct, although it takes me right at an hour. Still, that leaves me plenty of time in the day to play Stars, if I choose to do so.

So I am not sure at this point what I am going to do. I think my favorite plan is to split my time between the sites and try and grind my roll on stars up to 3k, and, if that works, take a shot at $200 on stars.

We'll just have to see. September will be the key, because if I beat $100 for a decent wr in a decent sample, then I am going to go head and move up to $200, since I am already rolled for $400, and I think I can beat $200 from what I have seen in SSFR.

TBH I try not to get into huge pots against regs. I actually think I might have been making a video at the time as well, I might look it up.

As heavily vested in Iron man as you are then it could easily be the deal breaker for you. Since I am not even close to invested, lol, it is not as much of a factor for me. As well I have high aspirations to move to PS and be at least at 100nl by next year to make a run at SN.

This is probably the best idea especially for you. You can not only table select excellently but keep your iron going while taking shots at SN next year and platinum this year.

GL. Your plate seems extremely full for next year. Vegas, teaching, live grind, possible 200nl grind unless live grind is super +ev. GL in all the upcoming adventures.

Can you get a bank transfer cash out from FTP or what? They used to work fine, but the last one (June) flailed for a long time and I just tried one last week and they kiboshed it. Should I just do a check? How long do checks take (never had a check from FTP)? Thanks for any info.

I think it does. I mean, if you hit platinum or higher the rakeback is almost the same + a larger player pool which means more bad players + not rigged = def. a win for PS

FT is rigged for me, it just is!

Another thing about PS I like is that i don't have that feeling that I shouuld grind for the rakeback, I know this is more a mental thing but on FT i play even if I don't really feel like it, on PS i can leave the tables for a day and just grind when I want to grind,
strange maybe.. But that's how it works for me
