July: losing month
Aug.: break even
Sept.: break even
Oct.: winning month
Nov. break even
Dec.: break even

Many of the break even months above I was winning at 25NL, and lost on every shot at 50NL. October is the first month where I have more hands at 50 than 25. The move up finally stuck.
Keep at it. Eventually it will stick.

^^^^^^^^

Yeah. Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm sure it will stick eventually. Just gonna focus on working on my game and my play and try to learn not to worry about results (an obv goal but easier said than done imo).

don't just move up. mix in NL50 tables with your NL25 tables.

gradually work your way up.

Maybe this has been asked elsewhere, but any guesses what percentage of people at 25NL/50NL use PT/HEM? How about at 100NL/200NL?
02-05-2009 , 04:56 PM
i would call myself a 50/100 player and i use PT2 and have trial copy of PT3. I've never tried HEM.

That sounds like pretty solid advice.

I really don't like to mix up tables.
It's annoying with all the bet sizing and such

Ha, yeah. I mixed tables at first and it didn't work too well. I would occasionally minraise pf on my higher tables and raise 8x+2bb on my smaller tables. It helped to have a different carpet color for the higher tables imo. My NL25 was stainless steel and NL10 was wood. It helps keep organized. That, and stainless steel is luckier imo.

That's a cool idea. Think I will try it. Also, if you have FT shortcuts it shows the % of pot for your bets... that will keep out those 2x errors imo.

We are so not chatty.

i agree, so funny to see the Pokerstars thread up daily, and we are well, way behind with not even one freaking star for how good this thread is

"your vote has been added"

We are busy trouncing the donks imo.

Yeah that's true,

I try to play 3x 1 hour a day.

I say "I try" because I always want to play more, more and more.

But I think it's better to keep quality + learning more about poker with reviewing hands, reading the sticky over and over again + stox poker membership I get 1 march
02-08-2009 , 07:12 PM
I am finally seeing what it's like to have a really crappy run of cards. 9ish buyins and counting. Lame.

Just wondering what I did to Full Tilt so I can apologize. So far my "free" stox membership is gonna cost me 10x the normal amount haha.

Enjoy the rollercoaster buddy! -)
02-08-2009 , 07:23 PM
Haha yeah, I guess that is an important part of becoming a better poker player. I just hate the doubt about whether it will end. Oh well, I have 32 buy ins for the level I'm playing so I guess I should just grind, try to make good decisions and not focus on anything else.

Just remember: It's all about the long run, but the short run can be frustrating long.
You can "run bad" for the rest of your life.

Should I be playing FTP also?

It depends. Are you rolled for at least 25NL? (Rake is too high any lower than that.)

Have you ever had a FT account? If not, you should sign up or 27% rakeback before you open a FT account.

Also, I believe there's 100% deposit bonus up to $600.

AA<AJ
AA<88 (flopped set - I played it horribad.)

Closing tables.
02-08-2009 , 08:00 PM
Ya I actually have a FTP account, I just only play tourneys there. I haven't played the ring games regularly (only like 1 table sometimes when I'm bored) so I don't know if its soft ect. I'm bankrolled for $50NL, the main reason I don't play FTP is cuz I don't have Rakeback and can't get it...so I stay on stars.
02-08-2009 , 08:06 PM
RB is the only reason I haven't moved back to Stars yet.

I am still not sure when I am in my ultimate grind-mode.
Sometimes my ego gets a bit in the way and I think I could easily play tired and still win at 25NL, which ain't true, because you always have to keep focus

For me it was the reason I moved back from PS.
02-08-2009 , 08:09 PM
I mean is it +ev to run both sites at the same time? Are the games softer on FTP than they are on Stars?

Without RB I don't think you could make up the FPP loss even if the games were a bit softer on FT.
Also Stars has significantly more tables running than FT, so if you table select well you should be able to find better games on Stars than on FT. From my own experience and what I read from other posters, FT generally tends to play more aggressive.
02-08-2009 , 08:36 PM
Comparing FTP to PS, imo the FTP software is better, more clear and easier in use.

at PS you can find juicy games all day long because of the fact PS just got more tables available at any time of the day, but for the level we are playing you can pretty much find juicy tables everywhere.

FTP is a bit more aggro, but I like that.

and well, if you go to FTP, you really should take rakeback because that is one sick bankroll builder
