Reading the stars regs thread I always get the impression that most NL 50 players have their poker goals set out in order like this:

1. Positive red line
2. Positive winrate

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

So I'm back to playing NL100 on FTP again. This past week's software update has been a pest.

Anyways, I'm making the jump to NL100. I was hesistant at first but I''ve been doing pretty well. I noticed that I played differently at first because of the change in stakes and the bigger pots. But once I got comfortable and didn't think about the money and just played my game things changed. I took down some big pots and even got coolered and it didn't really bother me as I took everything in stride.

What were the major adjustments needed for NL50 -> NL100 ?for those that have been there.

You should try the small stakes FT regs thread, you'll get some good answers there as well. I'll probaly be jumping form 25NL -> so I know I'm in for some big shocks.

Yea, sick of being stuck in the micros with it's ridiculous rake. My roll is $900 now after cashouts once I hit $2k I'm straight up to 100nl, If I'm close to $2k by the end of the month then I might hit up 50k for a short bit until I make the $2k but I won't be there long. Bloody sick of the micros, I find it very hard to improve my game as I just spend the time auto-piloting and mass tabling I think moving up to a level where I know I'll have to concentrate if I dont want to get hammered while help me a lot. I'm just going to start with 6 tables and go from there.

I think the skill level difference is higher from 50NL to 100Nl. I even saw 400/200NL regs playing on 100NL when tables where short so that is very significant so please be aware of the light3/4betting patterns

Ugh why does everyone has monetary goals oO.. I just want to improve my skills, thinking of earning as much as I can on 25NL just does not work for me. It never worked for me

Meh, planning on playing some again next few days...

Only played like 2 sessions this month so far (and lost an equal amount of BI of course) and had enough of it for now. Starting to get motivated again so hopefull see you (or won't see you, that would be better) at the tables again!

Me and Equus have been talking about this lately and noticing a lot of the regular posters talking about either skipping $50nl or spending very little time there because its a bad level. I am wondering if anyone else has this feeling and at what point do we go ahead and make the jump to $100nl? Should it be as soon as we are comfortably rolled for the level and as long as we are at least beating $50nl or should we still stick to 50nl and work on our game a bit? I am beating the level so far but only for about 5 bb/100 which is nothing to scuff about but also not crushing the level. I am rolled for $100nl but figured I should just stick to $50nl until I get my WR up a bit and am comfortably crushing the level. Anyone have any advice on this matter?

I've played 100k hands at 50nl before and my WR is only 1.75 so I'm not really completely skipping it but I've gotten to the stage where I just want to push on up the limits ASAP and improve my game. I've started improving my game recently when I switched to 6max for awhile, before that I just went throw the motions at 50nl and never really paid much attention to improving. I personally can't mass multi table well too which is annoying. I think far to many people get stuck in a rut a 50nl and are happy to grind it away, they say they want to improve their game before moving up but I don't think they actually put in any effort too, I think there's very few people who can mass table + improve there play at the same time.

Edit: More on people trying to improve their game. Like I said earlier with the redline first, WR second I think a lot of people's ideas of improving their game consists of getting a better red line and 3betting more so you can have a nice 3bet % stat to look at in HEM. For a huge amount of time I was the excact same, a good few posts of mine in the Stats thread telling people that having a negative red line in the micros is a leak or atleast not "standard". My red line for the last month+ has nose dived in epic fashion and I'm delighted as my WR has gone in the opposite direction. Another thing I think people should move up when they have $x in their bankroll (x = being whatever people are comfortable at, for me it's 20 someone else might be 40) rather then having xBB/100

I just hate it tbh, it's hard to desribe why I hate it so much but I do. Also the rake is terrible. Just to add if someone only has $1k in their account or something then obviously I wouldn't skip 50nl or stay at 25nl but I think staying at 50nl with $2k+ in their account until they win xBB/100, have their a X3bet %, have a X increase in red line, play X number of hands, have an X$/hr is way OTT.

I'm at 25NL right now and will probably be moving up to 50NL by the end of the month... does it really make sense to stay at 25NL and build a roll for 100NL rather than move up to 50NL? It doesn't seem like it does make sense.

ia it doesn't really make sense. i think once you've risen to 50nl and are working towards a non-micro game, the whole thing just becomes an awful grind, esp. b/c 50nl is where you get a bizarre mix of players that either make you tear your hair out or deliver sick beats.

i seriously think people should take shots at micro levels w/15 bi + a stoploss/the ability to move back down, and accelerate faster towards the next level.

Yeah +1 to not skipping it totally. I believe the theory that some people have put forth about it being a BS level, but at the same time, you should be able to adjust and beat it. Adjusting and winning is what poker is all about. Unless you really believe your winrate will be more than twice as high at 25. But I don't think you need to wait of xx winrate over xxxx sample to take shots at the next level. Just let bankroll and how you are playing be thy guide.

Very interesting. Yah I havent skipped it and have grinded it for awhile now but wasnt sure when I should move up to the next level.
So what are some good guidelines for when u know you are ready to move up?
Obv you want to be "comfortably rolled" for it first of all, but what else will let us know when we are ready to move on? I dont mass table I just 6 table and will likely move to a bit more tables soon but probably just to 9 for the time being.

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

I've been putting in way more volume than usual to clear the Iron Man mid-year bonus ($325 for me) and the $300 bonus I bought with Iron Man medals, and I managed to cross the 20 buy-ins for 50NL threshhold, but I've been leery of taking shots at 50NL. There's still definitely some bad players at 50NL, but it's harder to avoid reg wars. And the FT software updates made PT2 a pain in the butt to use, and Poker Copilot on my Mac is unreliable, so I hate playing 50NL (where I don't know the regs) without a HUD. That and 25NL feels like it's been supersoft this month--maybe it's the people clearing bonuses--so between that and the increased volume I'm playing, it feels like the first month I'm making actual money.

Are regular checks still an option to withdraw from FT, given the freezing funds thing that's recently happened? If I withdraw, can I still expect a check in 2 to 4 weeks?

Re: ***Official 2009 Micro Stakes FR Full Tilt Regulars Thread***

Just had the worst session I have had in a very very long time.
One of those sessions where no matter what, you cannot win a hand.
2 buy-ins lost because of stupidity when I wrongly thing (they can't have it every f'n time today).

I lost AK flips vs TT, 8T and something else.
I had KK 11 times. 4 of those times I got all in PF with AA

I got QQ all in PF against KK

I had two 2nd nut flushes, against the nut flush

I lost two set over sets

I hit top set and got two people in for a full buy-in. One had top two and the other a naked flush draw.... flush hits.

I want to punch the screen, or throw something..... going to have a lot of work to do to get to even or better for the day!

That is all, I feel better

The last one also isn't that bad, but it hurt me because that guy was running 55/35 and would called down with anything pretty much
