So i've played ~9k hands at fulltilt this month and have been set over setted 4 or 5 times. I haven't done it to anyone, but people stack off with tptk or overpairs constantly. Also, tripple barreled a fish and got looked up with a 7 high flush. wtf?

like dont 3 barrel bluff fish

WTF happened with the rake at NL25? I'm guessing from the post about lower limits that they reduced it to some odd number, 7% is it?

I was honestly thrown off for my whole session by these odd numbers in the pot

Visit <http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/rake.php>

NL25 is calculated as 1c rake per 20c in pot (previously 5c per $1 in pot)= 5% (effectively same as before) (maximum $3)
NL10 and below is now 6 and 2/3 % calculated as 1c rake per 15c in pot (max $2)

As if! Happy hour is the best! There are way more tables open, which means more donk tards and easier table selection.

----

Anyway, just to add something random.

I think, living in Australia I have the best deal when it comes to time differences. I wake up in the US after noon and 5pm our time is about 1am US time. So I can play in the middle of the day and get peak times.

Saturday afternoon is Friday night US, Sunday afternoon is Saturday night, and Monday morning is Sunday afternoon.

If only I wasn't hungover most of the weekend!

---

Also, wtf is with the new rake structure? Bastards trying to get that extra 3 cents off us when the pot doesn't reach the next $1 mark.

Although on the plus side, I was having a ball on my 25NL tables betting stupid crap like $1.23 or $9.99. The stacks just look so cool when they come out!

I think still FTP, because I like the software, the look and the games better then PS
I'm debating if I should put money on FT but I already had an account from about 3 years ago when I was a much bigger fish. I started a new account under a different name as I moved house but bottled it when it came to asking me to deposit. I didn't want to play for a month then get FT support taking my money away.

What do you guys think about playing on the site @ 50nl without rakeback? Also I've heard support is awful and I've heard cashing out is really hard?
02-17-2009 , 11:59 AM
Definitely do not play Full Tilt without rakeback.

I'm a huge FTP fanboy but it'd be impossible to justify playing there without rakeback.
02-17-2009 , 12:05 PM
Cashing out is easy, super I would say. Support is good too, I always get a mail back pretty soon

but you should try to get rakeback
02-17-2009 , 12:16 PM
Just make a new account, change all of your contact info and use another bank account. If you've got a nickname, use that and use either middle initial or full name (whichever your last account didn't)

A friend of mine did this and hasnt' run into any problems so far. AFAIK the worst that can happen is they suspend rakeback on your account and merge your old and new, if that happens it's off to pokerstars!

Is anyone here who would be able to help out a poor soul?

I am looking to move to Full Tilt from Stars, but I'd need some help with money transfer.

I'd give my 515$ at pokerstars for your 500$ at Full tilt. You make 15$ profit and I would owe you a favor, also.

Looking to do this with a trustworthy member of uNL. If you are not well known but would like to help me, then I'm sorry, but I just can't take the risk of getting burned. I hope it's understandable.

Shoot me a PM if you interested.
02-17-2009 , 05:17 PM
I don't need to do this anymore.
02-17-2009 , 10:28 PM
Autust I think I am joining you in jumping ship from PS to FT.

100% $600 bonus + rakeback = why play Stars (at NL25)?
02-18-2009 , 09:12 AM
I start enjoying poker while running terrible
Am I just losing my mind or am I growing as a player?

Unless you have the opportunity to make Supernova, a huge challenge if you are playing NL25, but really doable if you play NL50 +, then the rake back is better. Plus there are some other perks as well.

Does your mood have something to do with your avatar change?

I'm like this, is a great thing. Stops you from becoming results oreinted. when I was down lots of Bis in like 9K hands I started getting used to loosing lots. Then when I play I care less about results. I realised that even after running so bad I could still make +EV bluffs and +EV thin calls and valuebets. I still think it had some effect on me just not as awful as I thought.

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

LOL yeah... I'm working on it too. I think it's actually a positive of poker. We are supposed to learn that while playing, we only have chips. We are supposed to learn to devalue money. It is only a tool in poker.

Same for life imo. I don't want to value money. I don't want it to be a source of stress in my life. I don't want to value money for the sake of money itself. It is only a tool - an intermediate. I think learning not to be results oriented (short term obv) will be a very useful attitude to transfer to real life.

02-18-2009 , 05:11 PM
Yeah
it's very funny ro realise how many times I said to myself I am really not result orientated,
but you are. You like to win the money, you feel ****ty when you had a losing session..
and when you run bad for like 40k hands, you are getting more and more result orientated TILL the point you just have a burst and hit the fase where you just don't care about losing or winning anymore

You like playing your hands correct, you like playing good poker. And alltho we all strive for that fact, many people still lose themselfs in being to result orientated in combination with wanting to improve

Those two really are struggling against eachother.

When you want to win money it's probably more EV to play more tables. When you want to improve your game you probably shouldn't play more then 6

While you want to move up because you win money faster that way, you are not going up because you aren't improving that much as you should

This all has to do with being result orientated, it's a continu battle because we all strive to hit that long run, and aiming for the long run is again being result orientated

But being result orientated in the short run (where all the bad beats and running hot happens) will stop you from growing as a poker player.

You know what would be a very cool challenge? (and this is whole aside from my rambling about being result orientated)

If two skilled players where going to play the same amount of hours but 1 will play 24 tables and the other one 6.

I am pretty sure they will be almost equal in money

Tommy Angelo describes this as poker funk or table funk or something like that.

You can be playing along and win a big hand early in the session and stack somebody with your pocket aces when they had pocket Jacks. You finish up a little bit more than a buy'in and even though later on you had to dump some hands because the board got ugly or whatever, still you feel pretty good about your session and about your play in general.

Same scenario, except that instead of stacking the guy with pocket jacks he luck boxes a set on the turn after you're both all-in. You still proceed to make some lay downs over the session and you wind up down 1 1/2 buy-ins.

Now, I know we can justify the AA hand by saying we got our money in good, but don't you start to think maybe those other lay downs were pretty marginal, and if I'd just folded on the flop instead of seeing the turn in this hand here it would have been a better play. In general you don't feel very good about the session and the exact same plays you made in the first session, but the difference was that you lost a big hand early and you were never able to get it back. This session then grinds on your thoughts till you play again.
