I did and EN09 fits nicely into the tight regs category imo

So after yesterdays first Royal Flush of the year I flop one of these today....

CO: $52.85
BTN: $70.70
SB: $50.25

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is MP2 with T Q
3 folds, Hero raises to $1.75, CO calls $1.75, 3 folds

Flop: ($4.25) K J 9 (2 players)
Hero bets $3, CO folds

Final Pot: $4.25
Hero wins $4.05

Probably b/c A9s doesn't flop that well against his range if we flat and if we 3bet and he calls and flop comes Axx I can get one or two streets of value from his TT-KK hands.

We have a blocker to AA and AK

I can flop nut FD, 1 pair+nut FD and can stay aggressive.
12-31-2009 , 11:08 AM
Yes, basiclly why we 3bet A9s aginst tight players and flat it aginst loose players is because it has too much value to be "wasted" on a 3bet if he's loose. Wheras, if he's tight, we'll be struggling to make any money out of him cuz you know, we're gonna be dominated and bla bla bla. So we can't flat profitable, so the choice is to 3bet of fold. Since A9s is the top of our folding range, we decide to 3bet it.

But, what if you it turns out that 3betting A9s is more profitable than flatting aginst a loose player i a vaccum? Still flat it!! Why? Because if we decide to 3bet A9s we have to drop out some junk from our 3betting range in order for it to not be completely messed up. And thus, we lose value. Therefore we flat A9s and keep some junk hands in our 3betting range.

Hope that made sense

Indeed sir!

I expect to be in Vegas once or twice before WSOP so keep in touch because I'd love to meetup again.

Oh, and all you peeps talking about daily budgets and whatnot, there's an app for the iPhone, it requires internet access but otherwise works good, called MoneyTrackin that lets you input everything you buy on your phone (which you always have with you), and it will update all your account balances etc, give you reports about what you spend your money on, and the data is accessible online and in Excel formats, etc. Its free too.

Where does the name samkim come from? I just watched a movie where one of the main characters was named Sam Kim, so I'm just curious.

Samkim is a character from the book Salamandastron, which was one of the Redwall series of children's fantasy novels by Brian Jacques.

I read them religiously as a child and first used it as a handle in Warcraft3 5 or so years after I read the book series. It's been my online game handle for everything except FTP since then...My friends all know about it and kid me for the origin, but whatever.

Samkim was a squirrel archer in the royal guard of some badger lord (Urthstripe?). The basis of the books was kinda LOTRish, but they used animals as the characters instead of humans (probably to make it seem more child-friendly).

I was an enormous nerd (still am mostly) as a child/adolescent, in case you weren't aware

EDIT: Oddly enough "Sam Kim" is a super super common Korean name, and I learned some Korean from a friend to go along with the guise for a long while. I'd probably get asked every fifth game of WC3 whether or not I was Korean...my standard answer was "Yeah I'm gosu you chobo" but in Korean...I'd also abuse ^^;

Yeah, if you're familiar with Admiral_Thrawn, and Inz_ I was on a 3s team and 4s team with them.

Our 4s team was I think #7 at best, and Thrawn Inz and someone else had the #1 3s team on USEast for a very long time (lol once they got me out of the way :P)

I was probably just shy of being good enough to try for WCG seriously.

Hey guys, trying to move my roll to Full Tilt, but having some problems. Apparently I didn't enter the bonus code for rakeback when I downloaded the software, but I've read I can just go to rakebackpros and end up getting rakeback that way, anyone know about this? Also I want to get the 100% deposit bonus, but that will just take away from rakeback correct? Basically I don't really know what to do, whether to stay at Stars or go to Full Tilt, and getting some of these questions answered would definitely help. I will be at 50nl getting decent volume, but not enough for nova at Stars, what do you guys think? Thanks.
