Hmm, how does everyone here build their HEM database? Say you start out empty, with 0 hands on everyone, do you just play a lot to get a lot of hands or how? Or is it smart to get from your friend or even purchase from a site like poker table ratings?

Do you ever out-level yourself? Like the line you should take seems so obvious to you, you think the villain knows it too? And since our villain knows it, he should take it to the the next level, right? So you begin to second think yourself while checking the villains pop-ups, knowing he's a reg and probably checking your personal stats and pop-ups too? So there you are, both of you simultaneously rifling through each others numbers looking for a clue as to what action to take with each other - while some drooler is typing "HURRY UP" in the chat window. Before you know it, you're shipping mpethybridge an agreed upon number of BI's to look even deeper into your private numbers and financials - to make you a winner.

This happens to me mostly with monotone flops OOP where I consider leading, then think he'll jack it up on me and cost me more money, so I decide to c/r and put the pressure on him. But he knows the c/r line too. So how does that actually work, right? Or when I'm in position and villain checks to me, most likely the villain knows I know he's going to c/r. So if he knows I know it, why not just lead out so I can fold my freaking hand in peace? But since he should know I'm privy to the c/r line and wouldn't succumb to it, would he possibly take a different line or even c/f as some sort of meta-game bluff? Therefore, I become torn between betting my hand to take down the pot, or betting and then getting c/r'd off my hand.... nevermind... With all this self uncertainty, I'm amazed my redline ended up where it did.

The new winning 'Skilled Online Poker Specialist' or a maybe just a version of mpethy at work digging thru stats, your call.

Anyone help me out with this question? Where do you begin when you start to use a new software?

Yeah I questioned it myself. I felt by checking turn he might bet with overs, Axs or something to where he might fold had I bet out. Historically, if the board pairs and it isn't mine, it has cost me stacks a number of times. I think the board pairing instinctively tossed up a red flag for me. The blocker was simply weak. I need to pay more attention to hand ranges.

buying hands is a violation of the sites' terms of use, so definitely don't do that.

So just acquire stats based on your play. I made a beginners guide to using HEM as a stox vid last year, so if you are a member there you should check it out--it talks about which stats to add to which reports, which stats to add to your HUD, stuff like that.

I really think you should focus on some fundamental aspects of poker. Let everything else work out after that, define your hand/action and play it. This doesn't mean play a certain way, it means know what you are doing.

In the above spot being checked to, think about if there is more value in trying to get to showdown vs. how often you win the pot. Meta game is probably 99x more existent in your head than your opponents, just tailor your game to theirs until they make adjustments... then adjust accordingly.

Don't give people credit for making adjustments before they make them.

Split just had a basic HUD setup vid released on Stox today too.

My concern is starting out with everything "0". Meaning on any table that i will sit down, i will not have any info on my opponents and it sounds scary.

Do you have all of your HHs? If so, import them and that is where you start.

Have you ever played live poker? You'll be fine without stats. It only takes 50 or so hands for VPIP/PFR to start to converge so after an hour of play you should be good.

FU FullTilt for making me break out of my TAG roots to book a fing win today...

Started out normal then ended up playing 21/18 with a 9% 3-bet after taking like four really tough beats back to back to... well you get the picture.

Nope, no HHs. Playing against unknowns would just be horrible for me, as every new table i join or new players come. Are you saying it will build over time?

Correct. Just like a new player coming into the table. You have no stats on him, but after a few rounds you'll see the basic stats start coming together. No big deal. Just kick back and play uber-tight ABC for a few rounds and take some notes during that time.

Just play. Within 20 hands, you'll start to get an idea as to how your opponents play. It won't be perfect, but it'll keep you afloat until you get more sample.

nsoshnikov, request your last x hands from FT; it'll take them a while, but they will ship them to you.

Last hands in the last session or entire hand history?
