Dammit!!!!!
I seriously forget to play the ironman freeroll EVERY month. I'm going to offer a bounty around this time next month to whoever reminds me the day of the freeroll.

LOL, I really have to either move to Stars full time or stop playing over there.

My Friday night session ran over to 7:00 a.m. Saturday on FT, so I got my iron man points for both days. Thus, Saturday night, I decided to grind over at Stars.

So I sign on, filter for 50bb tables (zomg, those are awesome), filter out the fast tables (slow-witted, ldo) and, jesus effing christ, the highest players seeing the flop I see is 17%. So I wind up on tables that range from 17-12% and decide that my usual 11/9 game isn't going to cut it. So I say to myself, "I'm gonna have to lag it up a bit to exploit these nitty tables. Show these Stars guys some good, old fashioned Full Tilt aggression."

Highlights:

HUGE suckout when I grossly overestimated the FE I had against the one maniac on any of my tables. Guy was playing 44/33/16 (no, that AF is not a typo). He raised OTB, SB called, I called in BB with 55. Flop comes 347 check, check, maniac pots it, SB folds, I think, "well, he can't really have hit this flop," so I raise, lol, he min 3bets me, and I think, "well, if I shove here he's got a tough call even with AA and I have 6 outs against AA, so eff it, let's go." Well, regardless of whether it was a tough call for AA, it was an easy call for his top set, but a gorgeous 6 on the turn shipped me the pot.

Saw the flop 3 times with AA and got sucked out on all 3 times, once for stacks aipf v. KK. (payback for spiking my gutshot, obviously).

Played 18/13/2. Interestingly, my AF% went up from 25% at FT to 35%.

I 4 bet 33% of the 3 bets I faced, lol.

Had FUN. When I grind FTP, I select the highest vpip tables, which necessitates a tight, even nitty style. At Stars, they don't have high vpip tables, apparently, so the correct adjustment is to loosen up. I did, and it was kind of fun.

Finished +$300 in 600 hands without ever getting paid on a premium pocket pair or a set.

Red line looked like a dead person's ekg.

Had a really fun bit of run good. In this first hand, I was just spewing. It was the same thinking as I talked about above--"he can't have much, eventually he has to fold."

UTG+1: $145.55
UTG+2: $121.15
MP1: $129.10
MP2: $100.00
CO: $102.50

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is SB with Q 7
7 folds, Hero raises to $3, BB calls $2

Flop: ($6.00) 3 6 3 (2 players)
Hero bets $3.00, BB calls $3

Turn: ($12.00) 2 (2 players)
Hero bets $8.00, BB raises to $16, Hero raises to $34, BB calls $18

River: ($80.00) 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $42.00, Hero folds

So I finally came to my senses and it didn't get that bad. But Pokerstars evidently loves me, because this was just two hands later--no way i get his stack without spewing off the $37 I spewed off in the hand above:

Turn: ($21.50) A (2 players)
Hero bets $20.00, BTN calls $20

River: ($61.50) 2 (2 players)
Hero bets $70.00, BTN calls $70

So, evidently, I have a tendency to spew when I play on Stars. I guess I have a superiority complex from having played at FT for so long--"these stars guys can't handle FT aggression." Unfortunately, I seem not to be very good at FT aggression--they always have the top of their range when I decide to rely on FE.

But it's fun playing 18/13, and it was cool to be on tables where it was justified.

13 PFR? Laggy? PFFFF, come back when you've got that PFR way above 20 at least - that's fun

Other than that, Nice TR

Any euro regs here? I'm wondering, what time of the day are the tables the best? So far I've been playing in late afternoons / early evenings (euro time obviously) and I found the tables to be really nitty and tight. (at 50NL at least, 25NL was ok) I've read that 0 to 8AM eastern time is pretty good, but that's in the middle of the night till morning for me so that's not an option.

I'm getting kinda tired of playing 1000 hands sessions and only playing one pot bigger than 30bb's though :/
12-13-2009 , 03:09 PM
The tables today are just atrocious. About two open at any given moment and every single one is riddled with five shortstackers.

That's the best time to play, suck for us euros though

What about getting up at like 05:00 and playing till 08:00?

Edit: Tried it for a few days a while back, got up at 06:00 on a ****ing saturday and played a couple of hours. Tables were much better than euro evening time. Waking up at that time on a weekend was not sustainable though
12-13-2009 , 03:38 PM
I might try playing in the morning I guess, just to see if the tables are better. Not sure if I'll play my best game if I just get out of bed though

Is pokerstars any better for european players?
12-13-2009 , 04:01 PM
Bigger player pool so it might be slightly better. I would stick to FTP if you have RB and don't aim for SN status on stars.

Think you will find a big difference playing at those hours. I'm interested in hearing what you think so keep us posted.

If you were the 2nd person to sit at this table, I think manners and common courtesy demand you sit across of him. Imo.

If he was a reg here I would have. Just a little bit of screwing around with him as I have 10k hands on him. xxxSHROxMIxxx is slumming at quarterz and there's a xxx_mad_brt_xxx who'd sit HU and then sit right out? Why even bother sitting in? Did this multiple times.

So what do you think? Is FT really softer like all the Stars regs say, or is Stars softer like all the FT regs say? I'm thinking about switching in Jan.

Hey mpethy,
I was lagtarding it up because I was running good the past few weeks. After an unacceptable 7BI loss two nights ago, I've rededicated myself to playing TAG instead of LAG. I've gone from ~21/15 in my previous 30k hands to my old 16/12 for the most recent 5k hands. Best part? Villain's haven't adjusted to my adjustment.

Oh, had to play some non deep tables the past couple of days. I feel secure and comfortable calling opens 4x or 5x with a full range at 200BB. But man at 100BB it just doesn't seem worth it to speculate with the J9sootes. The addition of the non-deeps in my tile is definitely helping me nit up.

Damn, I thought you were talking about a 2p2er, who has a similar SN on here. Sry, nvm.
