Watched a vid by Pokey, '
Art, Science and Poker: Pt 3' which dealt with blinds and blind defense.
When facing ATS, defend with all premiums (obv) and all pp's, sc's down to 54s or so. Pokey advocated a 4x3B as opposed to something smaller. This (and I'm paraphrasing the whole thing mind you!) attempts to alleviate some of the positional strength of the stealer (BTN/CO/HJ). Since he is most likely stealing with a vary wide range, he really isn't interested in playing a large pot HU with a blind with a "random hand". We all know his range is wide but he has no idea of what we hold.
On the flop, bet half pot. You take it down a surprising amount of times. Then sometimes you make 2 pair, trips, a set is a killer when you pop it with 22-88 and a bare Ace comes.
I backed off my 3b sizing out of the blinds from 4x to 3x on coaching advice. I'm also not playing back with a number of hands recommended by Pokey. Tonight I flatted a ****load of pp's in the blinds and BTN, and have <6% set-o-meter.
Really, if you play back and 3b with a wide variety, it is difficult for the "Stealer" to really know what you're holding as well.
