how did he lose that

J6o is nots like tradefmark call 4bet hand
11-21-2009 , 06:54 AM

Tough session, tested my patience a lot. Enter four tables and promptly destroy my table image. It's just chips, right?

I find a new favorite opponent. Someone who limps a lot, but will fold to almost all my isolations. It gets really profitable. 2.5BB each time. Had position on him on all four tables, so I got a good red line out of it. Problem was that I kept missing my flops and was having trouble getting paid off with anything good. I spewed off a BI early trying to bluff someone with top set. That's one of my worst blue lines ever. Steaming, steaming, steaming as my green just kept dropping and I kept missing and missing. At this point, I'm down about 3BI. Fortunately, the steaming didn't transfer onto the poker table as I tightened up a bit, stuck to a fit or fold, rather than the laggy strategy, and just waited for some good cards. Also tightened up my steal attempts which helped.

Then this happened. (by the way, I just learned that there is a converter right on this page a minute ago!)

Hero wins $18.61
(Rake: $1.32)
Not sure what it is, but I've been running across a few people who will go broke with just about any pocket pair.

Then a few minutes later...

I needed some help from the deck and I got it.

Then came the big hand...

Full Tilt Poker $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

BB: $23.55
UTG: $11.94
UTG+1: $10.40
Hero (UTG+2): $32.31
MP1: $20.00
MP2: $10.47
CO: $20.20
BTN: $8.63
SB: $20.64

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is UTG+2 with 8 8
2 folds, Hero calls $0.10, MP1 raises to $0.50, 5 folds, Hero calls $0.40

I'm limping since there's a guy who habitually 3bets me. We've played a lot together and he's pretty competent. If he's got a HUD, I'm sure he's seeing a totally trashed out table image, so he makes the correct move to iso me. I can't start raising with my small and medium PP, so I'm limping. However, guy to my left raises, so my tormentor drops out of this hand. I only have 50 hands on him, so I'm not sure what his deal is.

Flop: ($1.15) 8 J 7 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets $0.80, Hero raises to $3.55, MP1 calls $2.75

I do not like this board, so I'm trying hard to get the money in. Opponent won't have it, unfortunately. I only have 50 hands on him, so presumably he knows little about me too. Perhaps to give me another chance to bluff or because he's just unsure what to do.

Turn: ($8.25) 9 (2 players)
Hero bets $8.25, MP1 raises to $15.95 all in, Hero calls $7.70

I'm not sure if this is a good or bad turn card. I lead out with a PSB. Opponent shoves which sucks because I'm presuming that he's not doing this without a 10 in his hand. I've got the right odds to call, though, so I make the call. You can see what opponent had in the spoiler.

River: ($40.15) 4 (2 players - 1 is all in)

Spoiler:
Final Pot: $40.15
Hero shows 8h 8s (three of a kind, Eights)
MP1 shows As Ad (a pair of Aces)
Hero wins $38.15
(Rake: $2.00)

I can't win with aces, but at least I can crack them from time to time.

I'm mentally worn out by this point, so I just check out with my nice little 187 bb profit and call it a night.

My brags
[x]Didn't let steam lead to spew.
[x]Made on-the-fly adjustments to my redline strategy to get it back to a respectable level. Kind of a pity since it was so high, but that's the consequence of pretending to be a lagtard.

Grr... was having a nice grinding session. Best sizing well, winning lots of medium pots, stealing effectively, then I get overset and lose half of it.
11-21-2009 , 10:20 PM
to me.. it looks like u are too obsessed with short term results to me.
11-21-2009 , 10:40 PM
yeah, I'm one of those people who likes to be ahead at the end of every session. I'm not steamed or anything. That stuff just happens.
11-22-2009 , 12:29 AM
yeah im pretty sure everyone likes to be ahead at the end of the session dude
im just saying its not really helpful to be hung up on results over a 300 hands sample..

just play your game, make the right decisions as often as u can and try to not look at ur cashier or hem at all during sessions. it will only affect ur play and 95% of the time it will be a negative effect.

I appreciate the advice. I have a non-zero desire to be ahead at the end of a session, but it's not a BIG deal. I mainly thought the graph was cool up to that point.

And I'm getting a lot better at not looking at results mid-session.

22PTBB/100 heater at NL100 in 1133 hands.....unreal.....and actually negative in all-in eV.
doomswitch after post?
kinda makes up for 24+2 donkaments though where 99 sucked out on my AA in a 3 way pot where I would have had a real chance in getting my first cash in a donkament....

- open limping a small pocket pair UTG is bad, I think it's been demonstrated before
- but calling a 3bet OOP is even worse

I wonder how you would feel without that river A and the flopped set.

But hey, props to you for making money.

I think there was one guy 3betting him so I think he meant to limp/call (if the villain raised of course)
