One of the reasons I don't understand why lower tier video makers do what they do. I don't know how well he's compensated, but I don't know if I would consider it enough to give away how I play.

Think it's prob mega advertising for coaching. So maybe slightly -ev in terms of playing, but +++ev in terms of coaching.

Also, the number of people who could/would try to exploit him is prob not as big as we'd think.

Because there's no way split has just one gear.

I used to be one of the "never show your cards! you give away informations!!!" people. But then I figured out (well, first of all most people aren't paying that much attention, but also) that if *I* don't know how I'm going to play that hand next time, what makes me think that they will?

Yeah that's true, I'm sure he's gotten tons of students just because of the notoriety of being a stox video maker.

When I think of it he's also making videos for micro stakes, so being exploited at NL50 isn't very likely, and he plays a different game when on higher steaks

PTR is certainly some ways off in regards to its accuracy. Not to mention that it only started tracking $50nl and below about 6 months ago which is why my PTR before ~April made me look like some kind of rakeback pro which was great for me and now is a reflection of how i actually play
11-05-2009 , 01:59 PM
Yeah, PTR is missing quite a few hands for me at 50, but has 90% so far at 100. Kind of crazy. 100 is very recent and small sample though. Could be PTR variance

For me PTR has about 95% from 25nl-100nl for the last 6 months, and probably 5% from 25nl-100nl before that. Seems that at some point they "fixed" their collection method.

Check out Harrahs in New Orleans if you want to get in some poker. Very loose preflop, very tight post. Pretty casual, especially on weekends. And its right downtown, so at the very least, you can get some free parking if you want to walk around Bourbon St.
11-05-2009 , 03:06 PM
PTR is pretty good for my stats. They missed out on a bunch when full tilt was doing all its upgrades in the summer, but other than that, it's pretty spot on and I play 10NL and that's only recently.

they probably just added more datamining "servers" around the time they started selling HH ?
11-05-2009 , 03:24 PM
I'm not planning on buying HH, but what do you think of the ethics of it? I know full tilt looks down upon hand histories from hands you don't play.
