lol (raises hand), I've just realized that after almost 3 years of pokerz on the interwebz, I really know very little and have misapplied, at some point, almost everything I've learned.

Took a week off, started re-reading Theory of Poker, reviewed a bunch of hands, realized I've become a FPS spewtard with good stats (especially when I'm stuck or bored), and I take playback way to personally. Trying to be water not a hammer.

I'm on holiday for 4 months so I've pretty much moved my sleeping pattern forward 5 hours to 5am-noon(ish). I used to wake up to play the 11am happy hour, but it's just better to stay up later imo(plus there's a happy hour at 4am as well).

I just had a similar observation last night. I'm in the middle of a horrible run as I've been saying in every other poast. I decided to take a few days off before dropping down and grinding out of it, but I did take a look at my database with a fresh perspective. Lots of coolers and bad beats, but at the same time I found that my NSD line is TERRIBLE. In short - some FPS and spewtard spots. Then the sinking feeling set in that despite being doomswitched if I had stayed on my A game, I would be complaining about a slight downswing or breakeven stretch instead of dessimating my bankroll.

The good: I can fix it. The bad: I should have realized this sooner. The ugly: I would have been so much better off using that money on blow and hookers. At least I'd have a better story.

For those who care, Casinomeister has listed FTP as a rogue site because of their poor customer service.

Somebody has a good book that "changed their way of thinking", or something like that?
a lot of them did, depends on what you like ldo but...
novels : 1984 from Orwell or Brave New World from Huxley, both shaped my political consciousness. Oh and Tender is a night from Fitzgerald, just sick
poetry : Flowers of evil from Charles Baudelaire. Just sick.
essay : A Philosophy of Boredom by Svendsen.

hit me up on aim if you wanna talk books, I am a literature freak anyway

Ok JLBorloo can you recommend a book like 1984 & Fahrenheit 451 with the same theme -> Distopian ?
07-07-2009 , 03:56 PM
TDK, first thing that comes to mind is "The Culture of Make Believe" by Derrek Jensen.

Starts out as a case study on hate, but he really gets around before finishing 700 pages later. I've bought at least a half dozen copies for friends and relatives.

Fahrenheit 451 is a must read indeed and you must as well see the Truffaut's movie adaptation which is SO good unlike 1984's one.

In the same style (social anticipation) I would advise you Huxley's Brave new world (incredible) and JG Ballard's Crash and Millenium People (two really good books), but less on the totalitarian side.

Orwell's Animal Farm.

Oh and Kundera - The Joke too
07-07-2009 , 04:05 PM
Already read and studied AFarm but thanks Man for the recommendations - gotta buy some books anyway (non-poker related) for Poker-vacation

Still like Catcher in the Rye even though I am a little old for it. The Stranger is good one for everyone on this forum to read.

New ones: Freakenomic, Tipping Point and Outliers are really good.

Fahrenheit 451 is my favorite book AINEC.

What do you think?

Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 Pot Limit Hold'em - 2 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

BTN/SB: $47.25
Hero (BB): $55.25

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BB with Q T
BTN/SB raises to $1, Hero calls $0.50

Flop: ($2.00) 3 3 A (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets $1, Hero raises to $3, BTN/SB raises to $8, Hero raises to $16, BTN/SB folds

(I'm gonna post my thinking as well as my reads a later)

poetry by JLBorloo, 5th grade

My redline looks like a black friday,
My green line fills me in with dismay,
And the devil tries to lure me - oh my -
Into three barreling again with jack high.

Okey, reads:

He was raising basiclly every hand on the BTN.
He had been calling my every raise from the BTN.
He seemed pritty good, but somewhat spewy. (Not as good as me ofc j/k)
