$105.

I ran a bluff, with A high, repping trips and got him to lay down at river. A few hands later he DC'ed and I blinded him down. He reconnected at like 15 chips or something haha. If you're here Wildlife, sorry but all your DC'd money R belong to me!

The LC thread always makes me smile

The only problem is when I am trawling through it in the uni library computer room.... either people label me as a degen for looking at gambling sites or think I am looking at porn!

On top of that I actually cried at the end of prison break which I was watching in the public computer room while everyone else was revising.... I think people though that the stress had finally got to me.... little did they know that I had just watched a very emotional last episode of prison break!

Can anyone reconcile my preferences with rationality? They appear to be intransitive.

- In the past, I'd skip some lectures to play poker
- Now that exams are close, I've decided that study > poker
- However, I'm going to my lectures

If study>poker>lectures, shouldn't I be skipping lectures to study? One possibility is that "lectures long before exams" are fundamentally less valuable to "lectures just before exams". I don't think the difference is really big enough to justify it, though. It seems more like that I don't mind going to a lecture when I'm "only" skipping study (that I quite possibly won't do very effectively if at all), but losing expected $ from poker hurts more. But skipping study to play poker would make me feel bad as well.
05-28-2009 , 06:19 AM
I always find that studying or going to lectures is enough.
You never need to do both imo.
Choose one and then play poker instead of the other (seeming you've already been skipping lectures i'd suggest choosing study).
05-28-2009 , 06:37 AM
Just clicked you said that you don't study effectively.
I'd fix that leak and learn to do it well.
If that's not an option I guess you have to go to class, shame you missed the ones earlier on.
05-28-2009 , 06:41 AM
study is def > then lectures, i find that you learn more by studding in 2 weeks than the entire semester.
