ok so from someone who's never thought critically about heads up math because i don't have poker stove, i have a ******ed question that i should already know the answer to. this is hu cash 100bb deep btw.

against a preflop range of something like AQ+/TT+ with a random airball like KTs included, hands like TT have ~42% equity. 99 has like 39%, 88 has 38-39%, and pretty much everything 55-77 have 38% as well. (it doesn't go below 36% for any pair). against most players, people say they're willing to stack off with something like 99+ preflop, and i'm guessing 55-88 are pretty standard defends against a 3b for a lot of cash players when 100bb deep. basically i wanna know why...i mean, obviously 99 plays better postflop than 55, but the difference in equity when getting it in pre is like .5% against a pretty normal range.

thoughts?

You guys are pretty smart, so I figured I would try here. And i'm kind of a 2+2 n00b outside of the HU forum. So anyway, here goes my situation/question type thing.

I have a friend, let's call him Joe. Joe is a regular 2/4 6m player. He's a long-term winning player with large sample. He is currently playing $200.

How can I form an agreement with him to make it beneficial for both parties to have him play $400, so he can move back up quicker, and I can make money?

It is 2am, so keep that in mind if my idea is totally stupid.

If I absorbed 50% of Joe's losses, and took 30% of Joe's winnings. Is that a -EV deal for me? Ex: Joe plays May 1st - May 7th, he loses $1500 dollars playing 2/4 6m. I ship him $750 to recover 50% of his losses. Or, Joe plays May 1st - May 7th, wins $1500 and sends me $450, being 30% of his winnings.

What do you think?

Stake him the required amount and take a % of his profits over x amount of hands

i think i'm usually pretty patient with beginning players but i might have to start a fight with the next person who uses the phrase "well I just figured I was at best a flip."

Actually, this wasn't really true if you don't count bonus clearing as part of winnings, I was $44 short in that case. So I played another and won, unambiguously clearing the threshold.
