Make the move from FR to 6max?

Hi all
Ive been browsing these forums for the past year or two without really posting. I am a regular full ring player at 2/4 and 3/6 with some small 5/10 shots when i like the tables running (i play at ongame).
My win rate at these stakes is around 2BB/100 over about 300k hands. I was wondering if my win rate could be improved by moving to 6 max? Are 6 max games generally softer? Also, if i do move over should i move down to lower stakes to begin with?
Any advice greatly appreciated, including the general pros and cons of FR v 6 max.
Thanks guys.

play some 400 and 600 games for like 50k hands and you'd know if it's softer or harder.
what's your SN on stars btw so i can stay away from you cuz i'm not so good.

It will always be possible to achieve a much higher winrate on 6-max than full ring (unless the FR is extremely soft compared to the 6-max). It's because in a full ring game, from the first 3 positions (UTG, +1, +2) no player will be able to open very many hands profitably. Also, if a player from these positions has already opened, you won't be able to play as many hands from LP as you are used to either. Your bb/100 will be lower and you will of course also play less hands per hour.

Don't expect your winrate to be higher immediately, you'll need time to adjust. FR usually has more fish, but you can achieve a higher winrate in 6max if you have a significant edge. FR is like autopilot mode. If you don't have any experience in 6max you should play lower... probably 200nl or 400nl, if you're getting killed in 400nl, move down. And also, you should be going for the highest hourly rate obv not BB/100.
