The table is somewhat tight/somewhat loose - but no one's going crazy.

I've got approx. $550 at the start of the hand, the button has approx. $250, the other 3 that are involved all have me covered.

I have QQ in the small blind. There are a few limpers, and I raise to $35. 4 people call, including the button.

approx. $185 in the pot. Flop comes down 10 9, 8

I'm thinking that this rates to almost certainly hit someone hard. Maybe a flopped 2 pair or set or straight even. Maybe a huge draw for both the straight and flush. Maybe more than one person has hit it.

Am I right to check here?

Everyone checks to the button, who bets $100. I had seen him flat call with AA earlier in a multiway pot, so it's certainly possible that he has this. Also, any 2 pair, set, draw - and some slight possibility of a steal on a scary board.

Especially with 3 others to act behind me, anyone of whom could be trapping with a flopped straight or set, should I call, raise, or fold here. Just give up on the queens and wait for a better place to put in what will almost certainly be at least 1/2 my stack (all of it if one of the other players comes in) - with me quite possibly drawing extremely thin.

Thanks.

Lee

A fold is reasonable, you are out of position, multiway, with a very wet flop.

Meh, if it were HU, I wouldn't mind getting it in with 50bb effective against the BTN, but with people to act behind, I'd just fold.

Do we have any reads on the other players? ie have you seen them check/raise, trap, c-bet, etc.

As is tho, I'd just fold, too many players on a wet board.

A check fold seem ok here. With 4 players on this wet flop you may have the best hand sometimes but it may cost to much to find out. Even you a facing a draw that will have ok equity aginst you're hand.

I bet $45-$50 pre and isolate a little better OOP. As played pre I either c/f or b/f but I am never c/c or c/r. b/f doesnt seem to bad me. The way your line played though I c/f. Btn who has 50BB just put ~25BB's pre and post.. I think he's pretty commited IMO which more than likely against just a pair your either behind or just about even... Can't really envision a scenario where you're that far ahead unless he's spewing with a small PP or 77.

I cut this out of your OP because it covers what you need to know about this hand. The board in question absolutely nails the **** out of the types of hands that will limp/call $35 in 2/5 NL. You're facing FOUR of these. You're virtually never winning now, and regardless of that, the turn card will look bad for you a ton of the time should you make it to that street (any club, 7, 6, T, A, or K won't be enjoyable, and even a Q won't make you feel good). Checking instead of leading into this multiway field is preferable.

As to the button betting $100, fold, you have several players behind you.

Thanks for the advice about needing to raise more preflop. Certainly is good to know.

Also thanks for the confirmation that my thinking check/fold is a good idea here. Nice to know that my thinking is on track, after the flop.
