King Crab vs The Whale - An Unexpected Journey King Crab vs The Whale - An Unexpected Journey

Villain was super aggro post flop, and didn't like to fold. Earlier he bet river on 29Q62 no flush, and called an all-in with 97 (other player had AQ)

I also valuebet A high on the river against him twice and was good.

Obviously a whale can still have all the big hands when they min 3b, which I think I have to take into consideration.

this is actually pretty gross given his vpip / pfr and 3bet stat. i dont mind folding tbh. i think u have enough equity to call the turn but the river just seems problematic to me. the 97 hand might make me just call down vs him though depending on exact action and stacks

I think I actually like a turn jam. He's probably incapable of folding any pair + gutter which we unblock. And we don't have any hearts or diamonds on a double flush draw board. I think it may be similar to a spot against a reg where we have an overpair or TPTK on a double flush draw board and jam the ones that unblock his draws. But since this guy is an 80 VPIP whale who spazzes postflop, we just stop caring about our kicker.

It's either jam or fold, calling seems like the worst option.

Given reads I would just jam.

Thanks. I did end up jamming.

I would fold turn, mini 3bets from not crazy 3betting whales are broadway/premiums heavy in my pool, in best case scenario he have some sort of a draw but realistically we have 0-3 outs
calling shove with a crappy hand just make me thing he is a gampler, but not naceserrily mean he have no brain and call you with A hi if you shove

Yes, the min 3b was really my only concern. I just figured his over aggression and lack of a fold button outweighed that concern.

And it wasn't just the call with a pair of 9s.

There was another hand we played.

Limped pot. x/x on Q86. I stab J turn with J5. River is a 5. I pot it with my 2 pair and he calls with KTo

Against a random button clicker, I'm probably calling and letting him hang himself more since you have position. Going AI is fine as well.

Are you calling all rivers if you just call the turn?

idk man hes 80/11 and doesnt really 3b. i dont think theres that much reason to believe hes 3bing really wide from the stats provided. it seems like it worked out but it feels like mostly poor adjustments are being made bc of his vpip without taking into account hes been passive up to this point and is now taking aggressive actions. i think 63 hands is enough of a sample to make that conclusion when the vpip / pfr are that dramatically divergent

It's easy to say we should fold because this is only the 2nd time he's 3bet, and it's also easy to say we should jam/call because of how aggro he's been postflop.

That's the dilemma

yes, i think its a pretty tough spot. im not really convinced jam turn is better than call / call but it does make the hand easier to play

I think if we didn't have the info that he doesn't like to fold, that would probably sway me to call more.

10% 3b range from a whale is much different then 10% 3b range from reg. It's much more spread out, because they don't have pre-planned strategy they just 3b when they feel like it.
