Ok so I've got some questions about playing out of the blinds. This is a sample from 5nl, and I was wondering whether these losses are good, standard, or bad?

Furthermore, I was wondering what you guys thought about widening up my defending ranges (pretty conservative atm for simplicity sake while I improve) to hopefully improve these loss-rates. My current win-rate when VPIP=Yes from the blinds is posted below. I figure this win-rate will go down as I widen my range, that much is obvious, however I was curious as to whether you guys think the benefits (of not folding and losing 0.5/1bb immediately) would outweigh the downside?

That looks pretty good. I'm losing at 25 and 60 respectfully and am a 2bb winner over the last 300k hands.

Ah k sweet. I actually have a lot of work to do with regards to blind defence (not to mention everything else :P), so perhaps I'll focus on improving my lines and aggression, and see if that improves the win-rate, if not down the line I will look at widening my ranges.

well you immediately lose 50bb/100 and 100bb/100 if you don't defend. people in micro tend to under defend these days. your blinds lose rate seems good.
fwiw my wr is like -17bb/-39bb for the last 440k hands at 100z where I'm a smaller winner (2.6bb) over that sample.

so definitely defend wider to prevent getting exploited.

Pretty sure Mark has me blocked, but it is normal to be losing in the blinds since you are folding there so much - this is fine. I don't think you need to defend often at the micros unless stats show that villain will steal from the BU or CO. In my play pool, there are very few people who do this. But you can defend against those that do with some good suited hands, kings and aces. I'm probably 3betting a lot of my suited connectors, aces, kings, KQ+ maybe even AT, and flatting lower Kings and Aces.

To give a simple explanation, if you're in the BB and add a hand to your defence range that you were previously folding and your results are better than -100bb then that's gonna reduce your blind losses further. It's only an issue if you are losing more than you would be by folding.

Full Tilt was rigged against you. Now Pokerstars is rigged against you. So you now have the following options:

1) Leave the sites you are complaining about and go somewhere else
2) Quit poker altogether
3) Suck it up and get on with it because you are going to continue playing on Pokerstars

Went to the gym yesterday, was just warming up on the squat rack, got to the bottom of a rep and tweaked by back pretty badly. So my gym goal may be a little off track.

I've been weightlifting since I was in high school, but in the past six months, I got married, bought a house, renovated a house, moved into a house, and am now looking for a new job, so this was actually my first time back in about two months. Not a great start.
