all of this could've been avoided if poker players weren't procrastinating disorganized messes.

I'm really not a math idiot, I think I'm just not communicating my thoughts well.

I'm not willing to bet, I assume I'm most probably wrong, I realized this a while ago but was trying to reason a few things out.

I really am not a math moron, here is proof:

Re: ImNotSoGood is being OUTRAGEOUS

this thread is a ****ing trainwreck.

imo, zug would have no reason to complain about playing the last 2 tables at once if he would have played one of the other 100 times INSG offered to play him.

i dunno about his math but if i was u 3200-800 i'd probably want to finish that one by itself.

Re: ImNotSoGood is being OUTRAGEOUS

this thread is awesome.

zug IM'ed me at one point and said "can you tell this guy how unreasonable he's being since you're a respected 2+2er?"

and i was like "no this guy is a fvcktard from my experience with him over a year ago at 5-10.. i think my notes on him say that he's braindead"

but congrats, sick that he made it one before the money in this tournament with a reasonable field and high variance.

Re: ImNotSoGood is being OUTRAGEOUS

also, LOLOLOL @ it taking 15-20 hours of 1 tabling. i would have started open shoving. my matches have lasted between 3-5ish hours probably, always playing 3 tables at once, and i thought those matches were epic long and boring-- 15+ hours i just couldn't take it.

.75= CHANCE YOU WILL PLAY W/ THE 2K-2K STACK AS TIEBREAKER(CHANCE I OF 3K-1K STACK WINNING)

.25 = CHANCE YOU WILL PLAY W/ THE 3K-1K STACK AS TIEBREAKER

not sure if I calculated speed of win properly in order to predict which stack is used in tiebreaker, but it seems relatively close to what it should be.
Here's where I believe you made your calculation error. It is generally "standard" to assume that your odds of winning are proportional to the number of chips you have. You used this to calculate the .625. However, if you are going to use the "std" assumption, you have to be consistent. So the odds of you winning and playing w/ the 2K-2K stack as teh tiebreaker should be .6 (because you are concerned about which of the two games will end first, not what the odds of the 3K-1K game are). so the correct equation is:

.625 x {(.6).50+(.4).75} = .375

Which is basically what everyone's been telling you. If you don't make the "standard" assumption about odds of winning (like assume the odds of winning a 3-1 is 90% instead of 75%), then you would get a different left number than .625. But I don't think this is what you intended.

Anyway, glad to see everyone made up and everything's fine.

Re: ImNotSoGood is being OUTRAGEOUS

Steve you should be more considerate of others in the future, I'm sure you didn't delay this thing on purpose but its clear you kinda just played on your terms and didn't care too much about your opponent's life/schedule and in the future you should definitely be more flexible or just not play the tourney if you anticipate the possibility of scheduling problems.

Stan you must learn to be very careful with what you post and how you post it. It seemed from your first long post with the aim convos that you were kind of in the right here and I'm sure everyone would have come to your defense and supported you had you not tried to convince everyone that your ****** math was correct. This made people assume you were an idiot, when you actually are not.

Oh and do a better job of proofreading your altered aim convos, you forgot to change your actual screenname in one of those convos. (I'd ask a Mod to delete it if I were you.)

I aced my stat midterm two weeks ago for 106% (50/50, 3/3 on extra cred), feels a lot better than any pot I've won.

Well, any pot this month.

This thread really reminds me of those amazing old Daliman threads where he is arguing that .08BAC means 8% of your blood is alcohol and other awesome stuff.

I wasn't arguing that it was. I thought that it was, was told I was wrong many times and believed it right away, and argued with El Diablo for being a douche. Obv I was right as he never posts anymore.

This thread is well thought out and you are articulating your thoughts much better there. The problem is that you are just pulling numbers out of thin-air, not unlike some explanations in this thread too. I appreciate you're not a math moron, but you can not begin half way through a solution.

When people show their work in science/industry, it's usually structured something like below. It helps people understand your thought process, as well as the result.

Assume x is this.
Assume y is that.

x and y correspond like this.

We end up with this interesting thing.

What it really reminds me of is the threads where people would argue about the EV of running it 2 or more times.

It's not like this thread was hidden away in the Other Gambling Games forum or something.
