Is this spewy or not?

I have been having problems with 77-QQ as noted in my PT3's history. Either I barrel stupidly or I play them too passively.

I have no history on the villain. Just sat down.

Had an Q-K-A came on the turn or river... I was done with it...

not sure you have to pot flop and turn, but betting is fine. Still getting value from 77-99, right?

I am MORE likely to bet AKQ turn, not less likely. (maybe not a diamond though).

It's read dependent, but I think you just charged this guy a premium to see a 3rd diamond or Ace. His line is so fishy...this passiveness with position is pretty lolbad. I have no idea what else he's calling down your UTG aggression with.

JJ/QQ are possible because we're UTG.

I think this is cool, maybe smaller bets on all streets?

multi-way this is bad, maybe if you size it smaller

HU you can do it with like 75% OTF, 75% OTT and keep blasting 75% OTR, villain can call with some midpairs, since you don't havemany Jx on your utg range

Why are we betting river? serious question.

The bet sizing is wrong on purpose. I was testing out something MartL said to me the other day in another thread. And I picked a hand that would be the hardest to do it in just to kind of get over the fear of doing it.

The man could have AJ or a couple hands that have me beat. There's no sample size. I realize he could have 77-99 that I could c/c and get value out of, or even catch a bluff. But when all things remain unknown, and there's hands that beat mine out there and I am able to rep a big hand... I'd rather just take the pot down... just a preference thing I guess. And I don't want to give him the opportunity to shove and have to decide about the AJ possibility or other possibilites (since it is a favorite past time of 4NL players to call flops with broadway cards and nothing else).

What were you testing out? Potting the flop into 3 other players on a wettish board? The BTN overcalled pre, so I have to think he has sets in his range post flop - therefore, not a big fan of the big turn raise either, especially with no reads/stats. I might c/c the turn, depending on betsize. I dunno, seems to me that you turned a decent SDV hand into a 3 barrel bluff.

I'm not great in these spots either, so interested to hear the various opinions.

ps. Krugman - nice one. :-)

MartL told me to pot bet in a hand that was like 30c pot and I was betting 20c. Told me they'd call the extra 10c. I wanted to see if they would do it in a hand like this when my initial plan was 35-40c bet. And since I don't pot bet much I wanted to see what would happen.

I play 10NL normally. So this hand didn't scare really and was willing to shell out a little coinage to get over it lol.

It's an interesting idea - I don't pot bet much either. So when he calls the turn pot bet, what range are we assigning? Do we think he'll call his draws? 77-99? If so, we folded those out OTR. Yes, you probably could fold out AJ OTR as well, which is good. But JJ-AA, 2pairs and sets (played passively) probably call.

I think I'd discount KK and AA here. He didn't 3bet preflop. And I would suspect that once I showed I had a hand on the turn he would probably have shoved me.

I could see his range being like Ax/KQ/QQ-22 + some connectors here. But my general rule of thumb for 4NL players and some 10NL players is they will tell me when I'm up against it. If I get slow played I would put it in a players notes.
