Lol I thought you sat down at his table snipes. Yeah, not searching players sitting in alone before sitting down is pretty stupid.

actually, the 4 tables thing is this support guy's invention entirely, so whatever. 4 is an arbitrary number, and a good starting point.

jg, thanks for starting a list. when i send along a finished list obviously i'll have to have the actual screen names, etc, but good start.
Yea, obviously this stuff is out of whack and ridiculous.

I open either 2 or 3 tables per limit I'm playing (if it's 3 it's on PLH table). And once I get enough action I start to close my other tables.

The only thing annoying about that (closing other tables) is that if I'm playing a donk/fish/random etc., I anticipate getting HNR once they double up so I sometimes will keep other tables open (intending to play on them) so I don't have to reopen lobby once they do indeed HNR.

It really is annoying though to see fellows sitting at a lot of tables at the same limit. I'm starting to --not-- sit at 2/4 because I am finding it somewhat pointless.

this is eerily similar to advice my dad gave me when i was about 16 and i told him i was going to go play poker with my friends in some kids' basement.

"if you win a lot of money, don't just leave the game and come home, stay and play for a little while and lose a little back so they don't get mad at you."

good advice for kitchen table games with your friends/family. horrible advice for internet poker.

yea it sucks that he coolered u and he's about to leave with your money and never come back, but for god's sake, he even told you in the chat he's leaving because you're a good player. it's not like he insta-left after the hand without even un-checking the post bb box.

i used to take it really personally when people did this to me and it would tilt the crap out of me, but one day i realized, 99% of the time its not personal and its all about money.

i mean lets say you're sitting at 5/10 alone and cts comes to sit with you. you post without realizing what's going on, and the first hand you get the AA!

omg, what do you do? you know you aren't gonna sit here and play cts but you wouldn't want to do something awful like stack him in one hand and leave! or perhaps something far bigger a crime, steal his blind and then leave. i guess your only option is to fold preflop. gotta stay classy.

actually i take that back. you could apologize in the chat, while the hand is still going on, and let him know what's up

augie: sorry dude i have AA
augie: i really suggest you fold here
augie: seriously, im gonna make it 4x, i have AA, i'm sitting out next hand, just fold
Dealer: augie raises to $40
Dealer: cts raises to $1000 and is all-in

Strange as it sounds, I have actually folded pretty strong hands before against people I knew I wasn't giving action to, when I forgot to turn off auto-post. Don't think I've ever had to decide whether to fold a big pair or not, though. (I don't refuse action to that many people who sit me, so it doesn't happen very often)

I know for sure I've folded AQ on the button before in a situation like this though. I figure if I forgot to turn off autopost, then it's my own damn fault, and I certainly don't want to grimm somebody I know I'm not going to play just because I happen to have good cards.

If I did actually lose at poker, I'm sure the 5 or 6 blinds that I've folded this way over 250k hands or something would have a lot to do with it.

I think it would be better to just indicate that you left auto-post on and don't want to play them, but to be fair will let them play their button too.. that way you both play your button, and he knows you're not playing past that so it's not a hit and run if he happens to get stacked and then you leave..

1) i think it's pretty standard for people who check their opponents out to do it after they sit and start playing, since if you sit out the fish will leave.

2) i think that it sucks, but is standard and shouldn't bother you to have them quit if they cooler you. it is mostly coincidental much of the time.

3) right now there are 63 2/4 tables with 1 player sitting. the only players currently sitting at MORE than 4 tables alone are jtizzo222 and mebster. a largish handful of others are sitting at 4 alone (fzth1, mistaken69, mcshove, though to be fair i rarely see mcshove sitting this many games).

4) only 5 of the open tables when i looked were being sat by people who only had 1 open table. cwik (must be an error or something) daluno jeffreyalan naismith and newt buggs.

Holy mother of god.

This is *way* worse than it was the last time I was playing 2/4, which wasn't that long ago.

There are 3 times as many unfilled tables as there are tables playing.

wtf?

That's definitely not happening at .5/1, which is where I've been playing for the past month.

tnixon,

amongst others:

1) an absolute cap on the number of tables at a stake/depth
2) an absolute cap on the number of tables with 1 player occupied at a stake/depth
3) anonymous tables
4) mechanisms to stop table blocking and sitting out/bumhunting via locking up the limited space
5) acting on an individual account basis targetting specific users who were causing problems
6) an absolute cap on the number of tables a player can sit at at a given stake/depth alone

3) anonymous tables

awesome imo

if i did happen to be an idiot and have autopost on and cts sat and i got AA and stacked him. i would probably continue to play him for fun for 10 minutes, likely quitting if i got stacked back. if somehow this happened at 25/50 i would just sit out and say sorry, but i would never get myself into the situation to begin with so it's a bit of a moot point.

I just sent an email to support@fulltiltpoker.com, hopefully making some of the same points.

63 tables with one player sitting when there are <20 with two players is absolutely absurd.
