were u staked online by him? were u staked for the live lower limits by him?

If yes to either then I think you 100% should be playing for him. Even if no to either of the above (and the staking was only for the higher live stakes) I don't think it absolves you from at least buying out of your make up/earning it off.

If you decide to continue playing poker then he really should have the option of continuing to stake you for the live higher stake games. It doesn't make a difference whether you found the money in your account or deposited it... the fact that you're willing to play hours of poker each day on your own dime, means that you should still have the time to play on stake for him (if he still so wishes).

If you want to keep playing poker but have no will to grind off your make up at the live games then I think you should 100% agree a buy out for the makeup that is appropriate (what rate that would be though, i wouldn't know).

If however he doesn't want to still stake you for the higher live games still then that would likely change things more to your favour. Since it's unreasonable to stake you for $4knl and then expect you to pay it off playing 50nl online.

MY idea is to keep playing for him I have no interest in ditching him but I've had several different opinions regarding this matter

The thing about the private game is that the owner started hosting a table at his house during weekends (it's 5x times higher than the one I played in )
and all the bad players ( the richest guys ) stopped playing that game, so nowadays the tables are filled with regs (not super good players but nits mostly + expensive rake = impossible to win make up there)

This is where the dilemma begins, I was talking to other poker players I know and they offered a v interesting picture

One of them said that If I Buy a % of my makeup it would be a straight up scam bc in that case His backing deal becomes a much lower risk investment and if I buy part of my make up then his loss is diminished but I still lose all the working hours I put in that game.

The opposite would be if I won a ****load of money and at the end of the year he told me, Wow you made that much? Here you go for your efforts, and gave me X amount of money extra besides whatever % I was entitled to.

I took a month off after losing a lot of money ( that was way beyond what I could afford) and when He came to notice that I was playing online he asked me whether I was playing for me or him.

The issue here Is what to do with the makeup I was probably going to keep playing for him for courtesy even though I don't really need it to play those stakes

I don't think this is the case at all. If he is unwilling to stake you for the same/similar game then he bears the responsibility of the stake ending. If he's offering to continue staking you for the same/similar games then the ev of him staking you hasn't really changed now compared to when you first started. So if you want to break that agreement then buying out your makeup seems entirely just and fair and in no way any sort of freeroll/scam in the backers benefit.

Your opposite analogy is poor imo. The opposite would actually be easier to assign to a tournament stake. Where backers are staking a guy who is supremely +ev in his wsop schedule. The guy binks the first event and then tell the backers that he's not playing on stake any more. How would that be in anyway fair either? There's nothing to say that the backer wouldn't give u a bonus if you had done very well... but that's not really even applicable to your situation imo.

I don't think this topic is particularly close if he is still willing to back you for the games he agreed to stake you in (or something v close to it). If so you should really spend the time you are dedicating to poker online, to the games he's staking you for and attempting to grind off your makeup.

The best place to get responses to this topic is to creat a thread in the marketplace staking forum though. either way gl to you.
